Points Awarded – Week 22

Player F1 N-Cup Week 22
Burwellian 168 139 307
Sebastian 205 101 306
Startledbunny 204 93 297

Jon Waldock 194 93 287

Jackie 185 98 283
Pat W 155 128 283
James 185 93 278
Sean 185 71 256
Dank 0 133 133

Well done Burwellian and Sebastian! Burwellian’s F1 and NASCAR carryover entry is a good one and routinely scores well in combined F1 and Cup weeks, this week it was good enough to win. Sebastian was just a point behind.
Once again for a Formula 1 and Cup week the scoring from top to bottom was very close, with Sean falling off the back slightly – just a slightly worse Cup score prevented him from matching James. Dank’s Cup-only carryover essentially means he’s just ticking over.

Sebastian’s challenge to James has gone in the former’s favour this week, there’s a long way to go yet though. I love these little sub-plots.

Overall Standings – Week 22

Pos Pre +/- Name Prior Wk 22 Total Gap
1 1 0 Sebastian 5358 306 5664 0
2 2 0 Pat W 5249 283 5532 132
3 3 0 The Speedgeek 5168 285 5453 211
4 4 0 RG 5154 296 5450 214

6 6 0 Jon Waldock 4999 287 5286 378
7 7 0 Startledbunny 4603 297 4900 764
8 8 0 James 4445 278 4723 941
9 9 0 Burwellian 4154 307 4461 1221
10 10 0 Jackie 3223 283 3506 2158
11 11 0 Dank 2291 133 2424 3240

Sebastian extends his lead a little, RG is challenging Speedgeek once more and Jon is looking to do the same with Sean. There are no position changes this week as the field essentially moves forward as one with such a tight week – it is vital to put in a respectable score in weeks like this to maintain a good strike rate.

Coming Up – Week 23

Three events this week:

IndyCar – Back to the road courses for the IndyCars with a visit to the classic Watkins Glen. www.indycar.com

Sprint Cup – A return to Daytona for the summer 400-mile race – let’s hope the track surface doesn’t fall apart this time. Go to nascar.com for more info.

DTM – The short street track of the Norisring in Nuremberg, usually fast and frantic. www.dtm.com

I think that’s everything, I’m a touch rushed this week (no time to look for a photo!), so let me know if you spot any errors.

  1. In the James-Sebastian like-for-like challenge, we picked eight drivers in common. James also picked Clint Boyer (7th/26 points) and Juan Pablo Montoya (34th/1), totaling 27. I had Nico Rosberg (10th/20) and Kurt Busch (3rd/35), making 55. This gives me +28 on the week, moving me from ten behind to 18 ahead, with James at 4474 and myself at 4492.

It is the second week in a row bad luck has hit James in the late laps of the NASCAR, with Ambrose throwing away the win at Sears Point and Montoya losing a strong finish at Loudon.

    DTM:

    Timo Scheider
    Gary Paffett
    Mattias Ekström
    Paul di Resta
    Bruno Spengler
    Jamie Green

    IRL:

    Will Power
    Dario Franchitti
    Ryan Briscoe
    Justin Wilson

(Might have picked Kurt Busch for Daytona.)

  2. Scoring correction: Burwellian is this week’s winner, by one point over Sebastian who I’d originally scored as the winner of this week. Only Burwellian’s points were affected, I’d not copied a number correctly when I was rushing to get this out last night. Thanks to Sebastian for checking.
