Well done Jackie! Also to Sebastian just two points behind.

The closest battle on the table is Jackie vs Burwellian and here they are finishing 1st and 3rd this week, brilliant!

Sean and RG were hit by two of their Cup picks only scoring a point apiece, similarly Speedgeek only picked up three points from two drivers. Normally you’d expect Kahne, Newman and Kurt Busch to reach the top fifteen at least.

Check out Sebastian’s break-down of the scores per pick.

Jackie is now just 35 points behind Burwellian following this week’s high scores from the pair. The other one to watch is Jon who is now 48 points behind The Speedgeek, and closing almost every week.

The only other pair less than 100 points apart are RG and Sean with a gap which widened to 99 points this week.

Results sheets are now available on the TMR drop.io.

Coming Up – Week 39

F1 – The all-new venue in South Korea has famously struggled to finish construction on time, at the time of writing it seems as though the track itself is ready and little else is. I’m not expecting a lot of fans even if the grandstands are finished. The track layout itself looks, frankly, awful. I really hope this race is better than it looks like it will be.

Sprint Cup – Another visit to Martinsville, the little ‘paperclip’ oval.

WRC – The penultimate round of the WRC is a fast asphalt rally based near Barcelona.. so just let me know who other than Loeb you’ll be picking.

Enjoy the races!

  1. Many congratulations, Jackie.

  2. Oh cool, my first week at the top :) Totally a fluke I promise you. I bet now I’ll have a very bad week, that always seems to happen after I’ve done okay. With only 35 points between Burwellian and I one good or bad week could seasl the final result so I really must get my thinking cap on before I make my picks.

It’s been a great game Pat. At the start of the season I had absolutely no idea of what the different series were or who the drivers were. I have learned so much so thanks to you all, I aim to be more on my game next season!

  3. This is so hard because my competitive streak has kicked in and I really want to bring the fight to Burwellian. Now, tactics tactics what do I go for, a 5, 3, 2 mix or something more even?

    Okay, here goes.

    Hamilton
    Alonso

  4. Nice one last week Jackie; really tight now. I’ll try and put up a good defence, but… we’ll see how it turns out I guess. I’m def stronger on F1 than on the other series though!

Might change this after FP3, but just so I’ve got something in place. Still not convinced about rain during the race to be honest; Ian Fergusson seems to be saying rain overnight, potentially clearing with possible showers for the race.

    F1
    - Webber
    - Vettel
    - Alonso
    - Hamilton

    NASCAR
    - Johnson
    - Hamlin
    - Kenseth

  5. Hehe I’m tempted to put in Webber but I have this strange feeling that he’s not figuring this weekend thereby keeping the championship battle open. I’m hoping for a bit of rain to really spice up the action

  6. …and actually, I think I want Rob Kubica too. Knowing me, these changes will probably bite me, but ah well…

Only just noticed Oliver’s 6th place on last weeks DTM results; used to live around the corner from him, always glad to see him up there. :)

  7. The way this season’s gone, it’d not surprise me if something conspires against Webber to keep the championship open! Some rain would be interesting, but I’m not convinced yet of a deluge during the race. Forecast is touch and go though, and it should rain at some point on Sunday at the very least.

Part of me is tempted to mirror Jackie’s selection merely to hold the gap as is ’til the end of the season, but that just strikes me as no fun :)

  9. I am in a real quandary over this one. I think rain will be a factor in Korea, but should not be heavy. The pecking order in the WRC is so far on mostly gravel, with the rest of the event on asphalt. Normally I would avoid the uncertainty that is NASCAR but Martinsville in recent years has given very predictable results for certain drivers; however will the new cars for this season effect that? This should be interesting.

    F1:
    Jenson Button
    Lewis Hamilton
    Robert Kubica

  11. Ah, my gut feeling didn’t stretch as far as Vettel though :( Shame, I really wanted Seb to win. I don;t think I have done at all well with my other picks. I hear Kevin Harvick has never been in the top 5 at that circuit and Ogier had a bit of a bump in the rallying…. argh!
