Despite being toned down version of what was run in the 90s heyday when I got into touring cars, I still do like these cars. The current NGTC cars are better than the things they ran recently (and are still run in WTCC, more or less). I keep coming back because of the cars and because of the clean racers in the field. The crashers though.. awful.
My ‘to watch’ list is huge, I still have the whole 2011 GP2 season to see.
You’ll have to try and get over here for Goodwood or some other event. I definitely want to go over and do Indy or a joint IndyCar/ALMS round somewhere.

I never did go to Thruxton – the weather was torrential!

As you know, Pat, I’m with Mac, except that I didn’t watch the 2011 season when SpeedTV ran it this last winter. I just can’t stand people nerfing others out of the way, as I think it displays a distinct lack of skill. I do like the cars of the BTCC enough that it’s almost enough in and of itself to get me to watch, but I’ve had too much to do to watch extra racing series, anyway (in fact, I still have the Barber IndyCar race on the TiVo that I haven’t watched yet…).

Great write up, Pat. Someday, I’ll get over to the UK and we’ll head out to the track…

Mac: It’s such a shame because the series really does have some great racing, and this stuff just drags it down.

“The trouble is, in this series it goes to another level.” That is excactly the impression I get watching BTCC on SpeedTV during the offseason. To be honest, at times it’s like a train wreck you can’t take your eyes off of.

It was a very good day, lots of racing, clear skies. Ideal way to start the racing year!

I’m keeping Thruxton open as a reserve if I’ve got the money at the time, and I’m definitely going to the Silverstone round, the ticket is already booked. After this visit I’m quite tempted to go back to Brands for the last race of the year.
