TMR Game – Week 13

Welcome to Week 13 of the Too Much Racing Game!

I hope you enjoyed as much of the feast of racing as you could over the weekend. I caught the surprisingly good F1 race and the somewhat less good IndyCar race, though my impression might be clouded by spending most of the race following the leader’s onboard camera on the official web feed so missing much of the action (not my choice of camera).

I didn’t manage to see the ALMS because it was on so late and the lack of big name entrants wasn’t enough of a draw to stay up; the NASCAR Cup because it was delayed and I didn’t really care; or the WRC highlights because I wasn’t home when they aired.

A quieter week ahead sees the start of the DTM season, if you’re not familiar with the series be sure to check www.dtm.com for more info.

Quick-Start

Racing this week:
DTM – Hockenheim;
NASCAR Sprint Cup – Talladega;

Usual restrictions apply, pick up to 10 drivers, no more than 7 from one race.

The cutoff is Saturday 24th April at 4.59am BST (British Summer Time = GMT+1), that’s 11.59pm Friday night US EDT.

For the full results from Week 12, read on.

How To Enter

1. Reply to this post.

2. List up to 10 drivers, with no more than 7 from a single event.

3. Send your entry before the stated deadline, usually some time on a Friday. You can make as many changes as you like until the closing point, I’ll take your last entry.

Most weeks feature 2 or 3 races, some weeks may have more than that and some may only have one. There’s not a rule stating you have to choose a driver in each race, any combination of up to 10 drivers is accepted.

Further information can be found on the  game sub-page which will be updated later in the week.

On to the results!

Note – Dani Sordo was not listed in the final classification so I have not awarded him points.

A good week for the McLaren drivers, an interesting upset in the formbook in the IndyCar, a close fight at the top of the ALMS, a rain-delayed Cup race – and Kimi finished a rally in the top 5! What a week.

Points Awarded – Week 12

10 Startledbunny 130 18 0 41 117 306
11 Dank 0 0 0 138 0 138

Well done James!

It’s hard to make sense of this table without knowing how many drivers were picked for each series and including that information would mean this post would take longer to compile. What we do know is big points were made in the ALMS though Jon, Jackie and Startledbunny had good F1 scores, while Dank’s Cup number comes from 7 rollover drivers.

It was interesting seeing the strategies, a couple of people deliberately skipped a series to maximise their chances elsewhere, while others spread their bets across all five races. It doesn’t appear to have made much of a difference to the final scores!

Overall Standings – Week 12

Pos Pre +/- Name Prior Wk 12 Total
1 1 0 Sebastian 2530 352 2882
2 2 0 The Speedgeek 2460 357 2817
3 3 0 Pat W 2406 390 2796
4 4 0 RG 2351 334 2685

7 8 1 James 2212 400 2612
8 7 -1 Burwellian 2260 322 2582
9 9 0 Startledbunny 1905 306 2211
10 11 1 Jackie 1088 342 1430
11 10 -1 Dank 1156 138 1294

Sebastian’s lead has been reduced a little, by 5 points, to 65 by The Speedgeek. I’ve closed in a little on the pair.

Jon overtakes Sean for 5th and is a mere 3 points behind 4th-placed RG, Sean is only a small handful behind the two of them. This week’s top-scorer James passes Burwellian for 6th. Startledbunny remains ready to pick off anyone who may falter, while Jackie moves clear of Dank who has those strong NASCAR picks.

The gaps may be spreading a little from top to bottom, but the great thing about this game as you can see above, is anyone in the field can have a good week and make up ground.

Week 13

This week we have the DTM season-opener with their first of two visits to Hockenheim, while the NASCAR Sprint Cup visits the banks of Talladega.

DTM – Just to mention again if you’re not familiar with the series be sure to check www.dtm.com for more info, the entry list is here. Note that there are no brand new cars for this season as there is a development freeze, they are still using 2009 and 2008 cars. David Coulthard is joining the series in a 2008 car but it may be too early for him to factor, if indeed he does at all – DTM is notoriously hard to master. Top drivers include Scheider, Ekstrom, Paffett and di Resta but with the cars not changing it could give anyone a chance. UK TV viewers can find the race live on ESPN from 12.30pm Sunday, for those outside the UK or who don’t have ESPN it may be available on an official live web stream at www.dtm.tv but I’m not 100% sure.

NASCAR – This is a big superspeedway so literally anything can happen. Here are the current points standings which are as good a form guide as any.

I think that’s everything, any questions just ask in the comments, and good luck!
