It was an enjoyable Monaco GP, with early action and the interesting strategy of bringing Alonso in early. As usual things calmed down in the second half and it was just a run for home, until the controversial pass at the end. I don’t have an opinion on it, I’m burned out from it and just don’t care any more so let’s move on. It was a good win by Mark Webber and for the team to prove it has a car suitable for everywhere, something to worry the opposition who thought Monaco would be the RBR weak point. Quick-Start
Racing this week:
DTM – Ricardo Tormo Circuit, Valencia;
ALMS – Laguna Seca (6 hours);
Note the NASCAR Sprint Cup guys are taking a break from their relentless grind this week.
Usual restrictions apply, pick up to 10 drivers, no more than 7 from one race.
The cutoff is Saturday 22nd May at 4.59am BST (British Summer Time = GMT+1), that’s 11.59pm Friday night US EDT.
For the full results from Week 16, read on.
How To Enter
1. Reply to this post.
2. List up to 10 drivers, with no more than 7 from a single event.
3. Send your entry before the stated deadline. You can make as many changes as you like until the closing point, I’ll take your last entry.
Most weeks feature 2 or 3 races, some weeks may have more than that and some may only have one. There’s not a rule stating you have to choose a driver in each race, any combination of up to 10 drivers is accepted.

I’ve been distracted and haven’t updated the Game rules page yet, I’m not sure when I’ll be able to do it.
I’d like to quickly give a plug to the work our players are doing elsewhere, so for this round I’ve linked their websites in the final table (if you have more than one I’ve just picked any of them so feel free to plug the others). Be sure to check out their sites if you haven’t done so already.
On to the results!

Congrats Startledbunny on the week’s win! Nice to see after a few weeks nearer the other end of the table.
A fairly compressed bunch among the rest of us, aside from Jackie and Dank’s non-entries. Burwellian’s was also a carry-over entry but with a field of both F1 and Cup drivers the score was quite respectable.
An unfortunate round for Sebastian who’s original entry would’ve placed I think 3rd in the ranking, sometimes you have to go with your first instinct I think!

Andy’s 2nd position in this round brings him closer to Sebastian and myself, that battle for second is looking tight and I’m not far ahead. Jon and RG score about the same to keep their little battle alive. There were no position changes this week.
Full results sheets are available on the TMR drop.io, the Total Driver page on the Data file won’t have been updated but isn’t relevant to the game.
Coming Up – Week 17
This week we have two events to choose from and one of them is a sportscar race, so get your thinking caps on for your driver choices there.
DTM – The second round of the DTM season comes from the Valencia circuit in Spain, that’s the MotoGP road course not the street circuit. This is a change for 2010 as the series used to visit the Circuit de Catalunya for the annual Spanish round. Mercedes had the advantage at Hockenheim, can Audi fight back? www.dtm.com
ALMS – The ALMS heads to Laguna Seca in California for what is a longer event than usual at this circuit, coming in at 6 hours. That could mix up the field if the retirement rate is high. There is no Audi or Peugeot presence and only 6 top-class LMP cars which is a bit of a shame, but you can’t fault the quality of those six, they’ll fight all the way. You can find the Entry List here (see link under the icons).
I think that’s everything, any questions just ask in the comments, and good luck!

I have rewritten the Game page. The stats have been removed and I have written down all of the rules I can remember. If there is anything I’ve missed or if you can think of anything we’ve not covered before, can you let me know?
I’d also appreciate feedback on the last weekend of the year, whether to include Macau to mix it up a bit. I think we did this before but I can’t remember which week, so best to ask again..

The post for Week 8 raised the Macau and Okayama question. I made the radical suggestion (with not much expectation of it getting a consensus) that to make the last week more exciting, for if scores were close, ‘we can have seven drivers from NASCAR and seven drivers from Macau. That should increase the spread of scores without being too artificial. More a case of treating Macau as week #44. Too artificial or a good way to spice up the last round?’ Otherwise, I think Macau has enough status and ending with just NASCAR seems a bit dull.
Burwellian included this feedback:
‘…and I’d rather see Macau to Okayama. Had to use wiki to find out Okayama is the new name for the Aida circuit, never having heard of it. As for Macau, well past winners include Ayrton, both Schumacher brothers, Coulthard; it’s probably the best known junior formulae race too I’d’ve thought?
Regardless, I’m guessing with most formulae other than F1, so probably won’t make a huge difference to me’ (smiley face did not copy)

Right, thanks. That was the week before I went away which must be why I’m so sketchy on the details.
