Welcome to Week 26 of the Too Much Racing Game!

Here are all the results from last weekend’s racing, and a guide to what’s happening this week.

Quick-Start

Racing this week:

Formula 1 – Hockenheim, Germany
IndyCar – Edmonton, Canada;
NASCAR Cup – Indianapolis, USA;
ALMS – Lime Rock Park, USA;

Usual restrictions apply, pick up to 10 drivers, no more than 7 from one race.

The cutoff is Saturday 24th July at 4.59am BST (British Summer Time = GMT+1), that’s 11.59pm Friday night US EDT.

How To Enter

1. Reply to this post.

2. List up to 10 drivers, with no more than 7 from a single event.

3. Send your entry before the stated deadline. You can make as many changes as you like until the closing point, I’ll take your last entry.

Most weeks feature 2 or 3 races, some weeks may have more than that and some may only have one. There’s not a rule stating you have to choose a driver in each race, any combination of up to 10 drivers is accepted.

Congratulations Sean! A great week for Sebastian, Jon and RG too. Unfortunately Speedgeek picked a driver twice and it was too late to notify him, so I had to discount that pick.

Burwellian, Jackie and Dank’s carryovers didn’t score at all. I will hopefully have some time free this week to send out a reminder email.

As ever the Le Mans Series picks proved crucial, there’s a knack to these sportscar races unfortunately my 5th place in the week suggests I haven’t worked it out as well as some others..

Sebastian’s 2nd position ensures he remains at the head of the table, that’s a handy lead and it’ll take some beating.

Sean’s win this week moves him ahead of The Speedgeek who seems to have lost a bit of ground lately. Sean’s score keeps him in touch with the podium positions. RG is just 51 points behind me, I’d better sort that out this week!

The challenge between Sebastian and James is one-way traffic at the moment, with Sebastian winning each of the weeks contested.

There’s a big week ahead with a choice of four races, and another sportscar round in amongst them.

Coming Up – Week 26

Four events this week:

Formula 1 – The German GP alternates between two venues and this year it is the turn of Hockenheim to host the event, I’m hoping for lots of passing into the hairpin. Yamamoto is in for Chandhok, but if any of you pick him there’ll be words..

IndyCar Series – The second Canadian race of the year is at the airport circuit in Edmonton. I can’t say I’m a particular fan of the idea of airport circuits, keeps the crowd too far away so there’s no atmosphere. More info at www.indycar.com

American Le Mans – The little Lime Rock circuit in Connecticut somehow hosts the multi-class series, and in such a small space you have to expect a bit of bumping. Lime Rock is a track I’d like to see the WTCC visit if it ever goes to the US, it seems ideal for touring car racing, more so than sportscars to my mind anyway. ALMS Racehub has the entry list.

NASCAR Sprint Cup – The Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis is apparently one of the more boring ones because the track only has one ‘groove’ – this is enough of a problem for the IndyCars so the far larger Cup cars struggle a bit. I’ve actually not seen a Cup race there so this is 2nd-hand information. I hope Goodyear has brought suitable tyres.. www.nascar.com

He sped in the pits. That was all him. Just like Ambrose faltering under caution at Sears Point. While I do think there are some good conspiracy theories in NASCAR (the 2001 Pepsi 400 being the absolute best example), I don’t think they wanted Johnson to win either of those races, as Montoya and/or Ambrose would have been a better story both times. Lots of people are tired of Johnson winning and NASCAR has been pumping up its “Drive for Diversity” for years, so I don’t think they’d be actively biased against Montoya or Ambrose… I think Juan is probably the favorite though.

Oh, and I agree with Sean. Montoya not only went over the speed limit at Indy last year, he went over the 5 mph “grace” above the speed limit. That’s his mistake. No conspiracy theory there. They’ve got to draw a line somewhere where they begin penalizing people, and Juan went over it. Believe me, I love a good NASCAR conspiracy theory as the next guy, but that wasn’t one…
