TMR Game – Week 31

Welcome to Week 31 of the Too Much Racing Game!

Here are all the results from last weekend’s racing. Please note these have been produced in a bit of a hurry while I prepare for my F1 holiday, apologies for any errors and I will correct them upon my return. There will be no reminders via email or Twitter this week, it is your responsibility to enter.

You should not expect to see next week’s post until Wednesday, though I’ll do my best to get it done on Tuesday.

Quick-Start

Racing this week:

F1 – Belgian Grand Prix, Spa-Franchorchamps, Belgium;
IndyCar – Chicagoland Speedway, Illinois, USA;
ALMS – Mosport, Canada;
(there is NO Cup race – thought I’d point it out as it is unusual)

Usual restrictions apply, pick up to 7 drivers in any individual race up to a maximum of 10 drivers.

The cutoff is Saturday 28th August at 4.59am BST (British Summer Time = GMT+1), that’s 11.59pm Friday night US EDT.

For the full results from Week 30, read on.

How To Enter

1. Reply to this post.

2. List up to 10 drivers, with no more than 7 from a single event.

3. Send your entry before the stated deadline. You can make as many changes as you like until the closing point, I’ll take your last entry.

Most weeks feature 2 or 3 races, some weeks may have more than that and some may only have one. There’s not a rule stating you have to choose a driver in each race, any combination of up to 10 drivers is accepted.

On to the results!

Well done RG! A great result for Jackie too.

The demise of the ORECA Peugeot meant those drivers only scored a point each rather than the 50 expected and it cost several players badly, particularly Sebastian and The Speedgeek who had chosen all three drivers. My decision to opt out of Cocker (who won) and go for Prost (who was 8th) cost me points. This meant RG’s strategy of avoiding the potentially risky sportscar picks paid off.

Jon suffered especially badly from retirements this weekend and almost all from cars you would expect to finish in the top ten in their series – the Peugeot, the Ragues/Mailleux car, Jimmie Johnson and Mikko Hirvonen all should’ve scored well.

Many other notable events happened unfortunately I’m somewhat pushed for time today and can’t run through them all. For further insight into how the scores were calculated, Sebastian shows them in a different format and you can see the table here.

RG is once again catching me, I’m going to have to pick well this week. The battle between Speedgeek and Sean has also closed in.

Results sheets will available on the TMR drop.io next week.

Coming Up – Week 31

Formula 1 – Belgian Grand Prix! One of the best races and racecourses of the entire season – and I’m going! Surely you don’t need me to tell you about drivers, form, etc.

American Le Mans Series – Back-to-back events for the ALMS with a visit to Mosport in Canada, a fast but bumpy course. Note the driver stepping in alongside Klaus Graf this weekend is Romain Dumas, not Timo Bernhard. www.americanlemans.com (see the Race Hub for an entry list which should be updated through the week);

IndyCar Series – Chicagoland Speedway is one of the best oval races of the season. Just like any other sort of racing, ovals can have classics and duds – this is a classic. Unfortunately some of the others coming up to close out the season are duds.  www.indycar.com (driver list);

* IMPORTANT *

I am lucky enough to be going to the Belgian Grand Prix – it’ll be great! – but as I do not return home until late evening on Monday 30th you can expect the results to be a little late next week.

There will be no reminders via email or Twitter this week, it is your responsibility to enter.

You can be sure I will not be compiling any results when in Belgium or on the road home (as I’m the driver)! I will try to have results up the night of Tuesday 31st but I will have returned to a very busy day at my workplace, it being the monthly stock-take – so please be aware they may not appear until Wednesday. Apologies.

  10. Jon Waldock has (as posted last week):

    Hamilton
    Button
    Vettel
    Webber

    Power
    Franchitti
    Dixon

    Brabham
    Dyson

    Burwellian has Brabham & Paganaud plus 3 DTM drivers and 5 NASCAR drivers. James and Dank only have NASCAR drivers. I feel bad about sending reminders to Sean (just after he had posted his selection), Jackie, RG and Burwellian, but not James because I did not have his e-mail. Sorry James.

  11. Thanks for the reminders, Sebastian. I don’t have James’ email address as I usually remind him via Twitter.

    I’m going to presume Jon meant Chris Dyson and Guy Smith.
