Hello and welcome to TMR Game Week 8.
This post accepts entries for these races:
– 12 Hours of Sebring (ILMC/ALMS);
– Losail, Qatar (MotoGP);
– Bristol (NASCAR Cup);
Housekeeping
Thinking of joining in? If you place your first entry during the first 10 weeks of the game you will receive 80% of the lowest player’s score from any weeks you missed. That brings you into contention whilst applying a small penalty for lateness, the rest is up to you!
Each week you pick 10 entries with a maximum of 7 from a single championship. This is the first week of the season featuring more than one race, what will your strategy be, how will you split your picks between races? Remember for sportscars races to pick the car not the driver.
See this page for the game rules.
Email reminders will be sent on Thursdays or Fridays by either myself or Sebastian. Please leave a valid email address in the comment form. If you do not wish to receive reminders please let us know, otherwise we’ll assume we’re okay to send them. Also let us know (privately if you prefer) if you would like to use a different address to the one you use here.
The deadline for entries is Saturday morning at 6am GMT / 2am ET (there’s a 4hr difference during the offset DST change).
Scores
Here is a reminder of the current score table. Since the last round Gavin has kindly produced some further analysis on his blog. Alongside Sebastian’s figures we now have many ways of showing results patterns, which should hopefully aid our picking!

Upcoming Races
Intercontinental Le Mans Challenge / American Le Mans Series (ILMC/ALMS): Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring
The first race of the new ILMC era sees 26 cars (across classes) meet with the ALMS regulars for the annual thrash around the bumps of Sebring, where it is commonly said 12 hours is worth 24 elsewhere, it is such a carbreaker. Audi and Peugeot will surely lead the fight but ORECA have the older but probably more reliable Peugeot to hand, and it looks like Highcroft are very fast in testing too. Don’t forget, the diesels and petrols have been brought closer together by the ACO so this year there’s more than an outside chance this race won’t go to a diesel.. although it probably will. Go here for the entry list (see highlighted text underneath the icons). Please pick by car not the driver (please tell me car number and team).
MotoGP: Commercial Bank Grand Prix of Qatar, Losail
This is the first MotoGP race of the year and the first to be counted within the TMR Game! Huge changes in line-ups should make this a fascinating season. That may not be the case for the opening round, often the sand and dust gets all over the track. Mind you, it is usually an interesting battle between horsepower on the long straight and agility on the rest of the circuit. Last year it was perfectly poised between Honda and Ducati as they’d pass and repass each other – let’s hope for more of the same! www.motogp.com for the entry list. Pick by rider.
NASCAR Sprint Cup (NSC): Jeff Byrd 500, Bristol Motor Speedway
Bristol as I’m sure you know is a bullring oval, so expect the elbows to be out. I feel I can’t write a real preview for NASCAR races because I just don’t know enough about who is fast on what type of track. I also can’t find an entry list yet but we’ll probably only worry about the usual suspects. Pick by driver.
Good luck!
I like to get my entry in early just in case I forget later in the week, but I might just tweak these later if something comes up in the news.

Good job, Pat, on including the Highcroft Acura in your mix. Pagenaud drove a great stint there for the last few hours to snag second. I’d not paid attention to the fact that they were LMP1. And the Oreca Peugot, who saw that coming…besides Jay and Felipe?

*Peugeot* Sorry. Not enough French ancestry, I guess.

I was amazed more people didn’t pick Highcroft, although I must admit I thought it was a risk. I’m glad to get some good points!
