TMR Game 2011 – Week 17

Hello and welcome to TMR Game Week 17.

This post accepts entries for just one race this week:

– F1 Catalunya

At least next week’s scoring will be easy to work out!

The NASCAR ‘All-Star Race’ is a non-championship event and is therefore not eligible for TMRG points, even if it was eligible I’d probably throw it out for changing the rules even more times than I do.

Housekeeping

Each week you pick up to 10 entries with a maximum of 7 of those coming from a single championship. You can have any mix of races from those listed in this post, and you don’t have to use all of them.

See this page for the game rules.

Email reminders will be sent on Thursdays or Fridays by either myself or Sebastian. Please leave a valid email address in the comment form. If you do not wish to receive reminders please let us know, otherwise we’ll assume we’re okay to send them. Also let us know (privately if you prefer) if you would like to use a different address to the one you use here. I may also use Twitter or other sites if I happen to see you there on Thursday or Friday.

I congratulate myself! #smugmode

A great week too for The Speedgeek, Sebastian and Maverick.

Somehow picks seem more limited on DTM/MotoGP weeks, despite F1 and IndyCar also only really having 6 or 7 competitive entries capable of winning a given event. Even so, only Speedgeek picked Rockenfeller who scored his first DTM win this weekend.

Pore over the results sheet produced by Sebastian for more info.

No position changes this week, however Sebastian makes a gain on Sean and I’ve opened a little gap to Felipe.

Poorer scores for the midfield allowed some of those a little further back to return to the fight, with just 58 points separating 7th from 12th.

Upcoming Races

Just one race this week, scores will be tight so make your picks count.

F1: Spanish Grand Prix, Montmelo, Catalunya

Barcelona is a great city but sadly the races at the Circuit de Catalunya are known to be dire more often than not. Can the Pirellis, KERS and DRS work their magic here and create some close racing? If the DRS zone is on the main straight, seeing how it seems to open up other parts of the track I think we could see a few more moves into La Caixa. www.f1.com

Good luck!

  1. I am picking the top seven from Turkey:

    Sebastian Vettel
    Mark Webber
    Fernando Alonso
    Lewis Hamilton
    Nico Rosberg
    Jenson Button
    Nick Heidfeld

With four or five definites and not that many maybes, I think duplicate entries are inevitable this week.

  2. Ooh, only 7 F1 picks eh?

    OK then:
    1. Vettel
    2. Webber
    3. Hamilton
    4. Button
    5. Alonso
    6. Heidfeld
    7. Rosberg

And that’s basically who I think are the best 7 combinations of car/driver in F1 at the moment…

Almost a very lazy pick of the top 7 car numbers! (Sorry Michael… no I’m not really)

  4. Okay, lets have a think…

F1: Mark Webber, Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button, Fernando Alonso, Nick Heidfeld, Nico Rosberg and Paul di Resta.

In reality I think one of the Saubers might be up there, but I don’t put bets on my team doing well.

Also exclusion of Vettel was intentional.
