TMR Game 2011 – Week 26

Hello and welcome to TMR Game Week 26.

This post accepts entries for these 4 events:

– F1 Nurburgring
– IndyCar Edmonton
– MotoGP Laguna Seca
– ALMS Mosport

Housekeeping

Each week you pick 10 entries with a maximum of 7 of those coming from a single championship. You can have any mix of races from those listed in this post, and you don’t have to use all of them.

See this page for the game rules.

Email reminders will be sent on Thursdays or Fridays by either myself or Sebastian. Please leave a valid email address in the comment form. If you do not wish to receive reminders please let us know, otherwise we’ll assume we’re okay to send them. Also let us know (privately if you prefer) if you would like to use a different address to the one you use here. I may also use Twitter or other sites if I happen to see you there on Thursday or Friday.

Do check the detailed results produced by Sebastian, including efficiency tables.

Well done again Sean! It seems you and Felipe were the only ones to pick a decent NASCAR selection although several of us were let down by Kyle Busch’s 36th position.

Sebastian was the only other player to break 300 so well done to him, and also to Ryan who got close.

The rest of us are spread quite far apart for a two-race weekend, I really thought the scores would be tight!

Andy takes a position from Felipe, whilst Mav and Jackie squabble again! I’m going to have to watch my back..

There’s more potential activity in positions 9-12 as Ryan has closed some of the gap to ‘Bunny, and Crooked Cap is looking to pass Dylan.

Upcoming Races

We’re back to a four-event weekend, but surprisingly none of them have anything to do with NASCAR. The two other US series we involve in TMRG are paying a visit to Canada whilst MotoGP goes to the States.

F1 – Nurburgring

As ever at the ‘Ring the long-range forecast suggests there will be rain this weekend. The engine rules are back to how they were at Valencia so perhaps Red Bull will be on top again after Alonso’s win last time out, unless they make another pit error. F1.com

IndyCar – Edmonton

The form book is thrown out of the window for this one because it is an new track layout at this airport venue, and it only uses a small segment of the previous iteration. It looks it runs down a runway, into a hairpin and back up the other side of it, past the pits and into a tight turn 1. Those turns could see a lot of incidents and accidents. Could this be even more of a crashfest/lottery than Toronto? IndyCar.com

MotoGP – Laguna Seca

It is difficult to overtake at Laguna, even for motorbikes. These guys will give it a go though! It was a great race at Sachsenring and this track has similar characteristics so I’m hopeful we’ll see a good one here too. Surely the Honda will reign on that huge hill, but will the Yamaha make it up elsewhere? MotoGP.com

ALMS – Mosport

This is a classic venue if known for its bumps (not sure if they’ve been ironed out since the last race I watched a couple of years ago). Once again expect there to be a limited prototype entry, however there is one more LMP1 car than was at Lime Rock. Entry list is at the ALMS Race Hub.

Good luck!

  2. By the look of it they have masacred Edmonton. Racing on wide runways is the signature of airport circuits, making them more akin to road-courses, but the new layout is pokey and more street-circuit. The weather-forecast for all four venues seems to be between might rain to probably will rain. I might well fiddle with these later in the week but like to get in a provisional just in case.

  3. That, sirs, is why I stay away from NASCAR. Oh well, not an issue this week. At least Sebastian kept up the Brum podiums (hang on, I’m Yorkshire born and bred, and reat proud of it!)

  6. Hold on for a moment, this is almost like the time when Frentzen scored a podium in the 2003 USGP.

F1: Fernando Alonso, Sebastian Vettel, Felipe Massa
IndyCar: Ryan Hunter-Reay, Dario Franchitti, Scott Dixon
MotoGP: Jorge Lorenzo, Casey Stoner, Dani Pedrosa, Andrea Dovizioso.

And since I’m away to Italy from tomorrow, I’ll do those now.

F1: Fernando Alonso, Sebastian Vettel, Mark Webber, Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button, Nico Rosberg, Sebastian Buemi.
NASCAR: Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin, Matt Kenseth, Jimmie Johnson

Hopefully there isn’t another controversy that bans all the teams, I dunno, the steering wheel is too small maybe. Maybe should have put Kovalainen as a banker.

Should be back in time to do it in two weeks.

  11. What was so unpredictable about the Cup race? The top two starters were the top two finishers. Admittedly, that may be unpredictable for RECENT Cup history, but considering there often isn’t a whole lot of passing at Loudon, not too shocking.

Given what happened at Toronto, I’m running far, far away from making any IndyCar picks this weekend.

    F1: Alonso, Hamilton, Vettel, Webber
    MotoGP: Dovizioso, Lorenzo, Pedrosa, Stoner

  14. I was not sure with my first attempt what the tyre-allocation was for the F1, and mediums not hards point to Alonso. With the possibility of light rain, I struggled to chose between the McLaren boys or Dovisioso. I decided to stick with the 3-2-3-2 mix, which at least gives the chance of the maximum 430.
