Hello and welcome to TMR Game Week 27.
This post accepts entries for these 2 events:
– F1 Hungaroring
– NASCAR Indianapolis
Housekeeping
Each week you pick 10 entries with a maximum of 7 of those coming from a single championship. You can have any mix of races from those listed in this post, and you don’t have to use all of them.
See this page for the game rules.
Email reminders will be sent on Thursdays or Fridays by either myself or Sebastian. Please leave a valid email address in the comment form. If you do not wish to receive reminders please let us know, otherwise we’ll assume we’re okay to send them. Also let us know (privately if you prefer) if you would like to use a different address to the one you use here. I may also use Twitter or other sites if I happen to see you there on Thursday or Friday.

Well done Sebastian – not only is it a clear win, it is a record score for the TMR Game!
Andy and Felipe had the same entry and it worked for them, joined 2nd this week. Sean maintained his good form with a score over 400.
I was quite pleased with my score until I saw the others ahead of me!
Some people seem to be restricting their potential scores by only picking from a couple of series when a race looks unpredictable due to rain or what have you, but to cut yourself from 4 potential winners seems short-sighted to me, not that it hurt Sean a great deal. Sebastian picked all four winners, 3 picks finished 2nd, and 2 finished 3rd (the only other pick finished 4th).

There were no position changes this week but the battle for 3rd is closing in, I recaught Gavin whilst Andy and Felipe are catching us both (still). There are now four of us within 100 points. Dylan saw Crooked Cap coming and has built up a bit of a gap again.
I’ve just realised I left off the gap column, but I’m not putting it in now I’ve done the formatting.
Upcoming Races
Just the two races this week, and both are known to be quite processional.
F1 – Hungaroring
The Hungarian GP might usually be one of the more boring on the calendar, but the long-range weather forecast suggests we may see it rain, which could mix things up nicely and prevent a Red Bull domination, just like in Germany. F1.com
NASCAR Cup – Indianapolis
The Brickyard 400 is a prestigious NASCAR event, sadly it isn’t one of the best races with long lines in single file. Its reputation precedes it which is probably why I’ve never actually watched one. Presumably Goodyear have figured out how to make a tyre for this place now.. www.nascar.com
Good luck!
Quick question, what are the events for the following week as I’ll be on holiday and might not be able/remember to submit entries?
Perhaps it would be useful to briefly list them on the end of the post each week during the vacation season?

I had a very lucky week as I chose that selection of drivers taking into consideration the wet forecast for Germany that turned out to be erroneous. Also, I so almost picked Button instead of Hamilton with Jenson’s record in mixed conditions. However, you do not get a score like that without a boat-full of luck, and I am pleased with it. I do feel Vettel let me down only finishing fourth!
No one has ever scored the maximum either for the optimal split or the split they chose. Sean went for a 4-4-2-0 split, restricting his maximum to 404, and scored 402, losing the last two points when Spies over-took Dovizioso for fourth. Week 17, when it was just the Spanish GP, the joint winners managed a 1-2-3-4-5-7-8, foiled only by Schumacher finishing sixth.
There are some weeks to go for the split that gives the maximum chance, but I certainly will not be going for a 5-5 split this week. I did very well out of 3-3-2-2 the week just gone, but I was worried about the Indycar picks on the new layout with double-file re-starts and rain-effected qualification possible. Had either Franchitti or Power had a difficult weekend, Sean would have won. It is what I think is so great about this game. It is not just about predicting within a series, but deciding between for example Johnson at Indianapolis against Massa in Hungary, with the former more likely to win but a significant risk of a terrible score and the latter highly likely to drift home in the top-seven but not reach the podium.

Yeah, I simply thought Edmonton wouldn’t be predictable after Toronto. I also thought Power was maybe going to pay back Franchitti for Toronto but he chose the more professional way of doing it by just running in front of him all race. I REALLY hope Franchitti doesn’t win the title by like 20 points or something though. He has more titles and Indy 500 wins than he deserves already.

Heck, I have lost faith in Rosberg with the propensity of the Mercedes cars to wear out those rear super-soft tyres. I wavered over replacing him with Kobayashi or Johnson, finally deciding on the latter. I may well regret this, either for dropping Rosberg or for not picking Kamui.
