Results

RIP Marco Simoncelli. Two sad and tragic weeks, unbelievable. Again, the race was rightly abandoned with no points awarded.

I didn’t see Talladega as I was watching the Dan Wheldon Memorial, but looking at the results sheet it is completely understandable why so many avoided picking drivers in that race, nobody could’ve guessed this order.

Week 39 DTM NASCAR Cup
Points Hockenheim Talladega

Obviously the scores are again skewed by a race no longer counting, but still, well done to Gavin for the second week in a row for picking the strongest team among the remainder. Not the way anyone wants to pick up two wins though.

The weird NASCAR result meant the scores were unusually low for those who picked from that race.

Please see the score-by-score results produced by Sebastian.

Races This Week

F1 Indian Grand Prix

The first ever Formula 1 GP in India and the track looks impressive, if not quite finished. Rough around the edges, dirt and dust everywhere, stairs leading to nowhere..  I hope it gets smartened up in time for the weekend. It could be an interesting race with Pirelli reintroducing the step between tyre compounds, taking Soft and Hard this time out of the choice of four.

NASCAR Cup Martinsville

‘The paperclip’, they call it. A classic venue going back to 1947, this is the shortest track in NASCAR at 0.526 miles and with relatively flat banking. Back in the Spring, Kevin Harvick chased down and passed Dale Jr for the win with just a few laps to spare whilst Kyle Busch just missed out on 2nd. How will it play out now we’re in the Chase?

Coming Soon

To aid your planning these are the remaining races this season:

Week 41 – MotoGP Valencia, NASCAR Cup Texas

Week 42 – F1 Abu Dhabi GP, ILMC Zhuhai 6 Hrs, NASCAR Cup Phoenix

Week 43 – NASCAR Cup Homestead-Miami

Week 44 – F1 Brazilian GP

  3. Terrible news about Marco Simoncelli. It seemed to me before this that the MotoGP is old-fashioned dangerous. That was a horrible accident to see.

  6. Martinsville quali washed out. Drivers line up on owners’ points and it is a track where passing is difficult and starting position matters much more than usual. I wonder if the race will be delayed.
