Why Use These Calendars?

I’ve been updating these since the 2011 racing season. Many decisions have been taken with experience, such as to make the usability the best it can be and to reduce the admin overhead. I will always listen to feedback but that doesn’t always mean I’ll implement it!
One series = One calendar
Pick championships that interest you without getting lots of dates for things you don’t care about.
Customise
In Google Calendar you can colour-code each championship, e.g. you could make all the endurance series green, single-seater series red, or rally series brown (for dirt..!).
Races Only
Races are why we are all here. Races are most important. Practice sessions clutter the feed meaning you can’t find the races. Clarity is better.
When you know the race day you can go to the series website to look up other session times. Use these calendars as a tool to remind you which weekend a race happens.
Dates, Not Times
Sorry, it is a big job for me to track race start times! These are announced much later than race dates, sometimes only days before a race. I cover 30+ series, I just can’t monitor them on a weekly basis. There is also the issue of timezone conversion…
No TV Times
I don’t know where you live! The internet is global. It is up to you to find out what TV, radio and online streaming coverage is available where you are.
Event Titles
Event titles are as consistent as possible:
A short series name, the round number, the event title.
F1 [R1] Australian Grand Prix
IndyCar [R5] Indianapolis 500
WEC [R3] 24 Heures du Mans
I sometimes have to remove sponsor names for brevity, especially for NASCAR, some of those race names are incredible, so
NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series [R22] Helluva Good Sour Cream Dips At The Glen
becomes
NASCAR Cup [R22] Watkins Glen
This is because I’m aware a lot of people, including me, use these on their mobile phone screensavers and you actually want to be able to read it!
Different series number their races in different ways. e.g. one series of 30 races may choose to have 30 individual round numbers (BTCC), another series of 20 races may choose to have 10 rounds and call them ’round 1 race 1′, ’round 1 race 2′, or ’round 1 feature race’ and ’round 1 sprint race’ (FIA F2). I try to mirror the way the championship does it but I’ve probably got this wrong somewhere, so just use this as a guide and consult the championship itself for the correct numbers.
Many series have two or three races per weekend. I merge multiple races in a day into a single entry, but if there are different races over 2 days they get one entry per day. A single race over 2 days, like Le Mans, will have one entry lasting 24 hours.
All rallies are listed as single events lasting 3 or 4 days.
Example entries:
Apr 3: BTCC -R1,R2,R3- Brands Hatch
May 7: DTM – R1 – Hockenheim
May 8: DTM – R2 – Hockenheim
‘Misc’ Calendar
Catch-all. It includes such things as the Dakar Rally, Goodwood Festival of Speed, Isle of Man TT, Nurburgring 24 Hours, Bathurst 12 Hours and anything else that pops into my head.
‘Other Sport’ Calendar
I made this for my own benefit for the 2012 Olympics & Paralympics. I like to know that I’m not going to miss the Tour de France or the FA Cup Final or the Six Nations! Or that racing isn’t going to clash with it. It is heavily biased toward sports I watch and isn’t updated very often.

Thanks for creating and publishing these calendars! I follow F1, MOTOGP, Formula E, NASCAR, Indy, and NHRA. You made it so much easier in keeping track of these.

I’ll see what I can do with GT4!
I have just added MXGP, though I might not do a separate blog post for that.

OK: I have added GT4 European and GT4 America links above.
I’ll be adding calendar dates to them tomorrow.

The calendars are great! Just need ADAC GT and International GT Open and will have all that I need for the 2019 season. A lot better than the printouts I used last year. Thanks for putting these together!

GT Open and ADAC were next on my list, they’ve been done this evening.
All that remains is Rallycross and then I’m done.

You are doing a fantastic job.

Hi, there seem to be a mistake int the F1 calendar: it has two R10’s. Thanks for the precious time saving calendars, though!

Good pickup, I didn’t see that at all!
Thanks!

Hi Abdul.
Is this for all of them or is it only with a particular calendar? Try another championship and see if that works.

Sadly I’ve had to delete the Formula European Masters dates. This is the series that used to be Formula 3 European Championship or F3 Euro Series. It has folded due to lack of entrants.

This is honestly beyond helpful! A total God send for a busy writer! Don’t suppose you have a Google Calendar link for all four-wheeled and two-wheeled series overall?
It’s useful being per series but for notification’s sake (Google can be so annoying!!) It would be amazing to have a single calendar to include multiple series
Or… do you know if it is possible to merge the calendars together??
Would be great to know as I rely so heavily on these! 🙂

Thanks!
I don’t have one because that would mean manually copying the existing ones to it. At least, I don’t know a way to merge them.
I’d previously planned to do a ‘Big Sportscar Races’ one but put it off for being extra work!
I’ll see what I can find and come back.

Wonderful, your entries outnumber all the other items on my calendar (I know “I should get out more!” but I am retired and taking it easy).
Can we have the BRDC Formula 3 championship please, the highlights are shown on UK fta TV (ITV4).
Many thanks for taking the trouble with these calendars, the world needs more people like you.

Thanks David. I may add some F3 series next year but I’m really at my limit with how much I can do myself. Right now I’m only covering the FIA F3 series at that level.

That’s quite understandable, many thanks for what you do produce, much appreciated

Is it possible to add speedway grand prix to the list?
Thanks again.

Hi, will you update the calendars for 2020?

Hi Yomal, yes I have started updating them for 2020. F1, MotoGP, IndyCar, Formula E, WEC and IMSA are all done.
I haven’t been updating the website page though, I wanted to get ahead first.

Ok, thank you. I already have those calendars so will they automatically update?

If you scroll through to 2020 they should already be there.
Unless you use a method that downloads them once. In that case you will have to re-download.

Various 2020 series are done.
Blancpain GT is no longer sponsored so has been renamed to GT World Challenge across the three regions (America, Asia, Europe). I have included the Endurance Cup in the Europe calendar even though I think the World Challenge name only applies to the Sprints.
The only major series not done are NASCAR, WRC, DTM, Supercars, BTCC. I intend for these to be done by Christmas. Then there are a whole load of second & third tier series I’d like to have done by early January.

Really appreciate your calendars. Do you have any plans of doing a W Series calendar for the new year?

That’s a really good question! If enough people want a W Series calendar I can include one.

Recent updates:
World Rally Championship, European Rally Championship, World Rallycross, European Rallycross, European Drag Racing.
A load of things got firmed up last week at the FIA World Motor Sport Council meeting so I’m going through that list, also checking it against existing uploads.
After that I can do NASCAR. Need to focus on things that start in January & February.
