It was an enjoyable Monaco GP, with early action and the interesting strategy of bringing Alonso in early. As usual things calmed down in the second half and it was just a run for home, until the controversial pass at the end. I don’t have an opinion on it, I’m burned out from it and just don’t care any more so let’s move on. It was a good win by Mark Webber and for the team to prove it has a car suitable for everywhere, something to worry the opposition who thought Monaco would be the RBR weak point. First of all, I hope you like the new theme! I think it makes things easier to read as the text doesn’t get lost in the background, and the links and other devices aren’t cluttered in one place.  [Photo – Petter Solberg at Rally New Zealand, ZumaPress via Picapp]

You can read my thoughts on the Spanish GP in my previous post, I heard the LMS was utterly chaotic but a good race, I look forward to catching up with it. I saw the highlights of the WRC New Zealand, and what a turn of events – Loeb fell to 8th nearly 2 minutes down on day 1, but fought back valiantly to close the gap in one of the best comeback drives rallying has seen on day 2, before on the final day both he and his fellow previous frontrunners all encountered spins (including a retirement for Petter) and allowed the consistent Latvala to take the win on the final stage!

Quick-Start

Racing this week:

Formula 1 – Monaco GP;

Sprint Cup – Dover, Delaware;

Usual restrictions apply, pick up to 10 drivers, no more than 7 from one race.

The cutoff is Saturday 15th May at 4.59am BST (British Summer Time = GMT+1), that’s 11.59pm Friday night US EDT.

TMR Game – Week 15

Welcome to Week 15 of the Too Much Racing Game!

I watched the IndyCar race using their online Race Control stream, I’m glad it worked for most of the race with only a few glitches, a big improvement – let’s see how it handles the much higher traffic for Indy! I thought it a strange decision to hold the race on Saturday afternoon though, clearly once again we are told just how important the series isn’t to ABC/ESPN. The race itself was pretty average but that’s fine, they can’t all be classics and aside from the lead two we had some different drivers up there to think about. Sato did very well for his first oval. Shame about the small crowd.

TMR Game – Week 14

Welcome to Week 14 of the Too Much Racing Game!

I didn’t think that was a great week in terms of racing action, the DTM race I watched via web feed seemed fairly flat though this may be unfair as I admit my attention was elsewhere at the time. Perhaps if my full focus had been on it I’d have enjoyed it more. [Photo – First lap of the DTM at Hockenheim, by Hasan Bratic of Getty Images, via Picapp]

As usual I missed the Cup race though this time partly because I don’t like restrictor plate tracks – but apparently it was a good race, better now they’ve changed the aero? I see they still had the big crash and the showbiz ending though.

This week sees the focus switch to the ovals with IndyCar and more NASCAR Cup.

Quick-Start

Racing this week:
IRL IZOD IndyCar Series – Kansas;
NASCAR Sprint Cup – Richmond;

Usual restrictions apply, pick up to 10 drivers, no more than 7 from one race.

The cutoff is Saturday 1st May at 4.59am BST (British Summer Time = GMT+1), that’s 11.59pm Friday night US EDT.

For the full results from Week 13, read on.
