TMR Game – Week 6

Welcome to Week 6 of the Too Much Racing Game!

This post contains a quick-start summary for entries to Week 6, the results from Week 5, and a few notes about Week 6’s racing.

Quick-Start

Racing this week:  WRC Rally Mexico, NASCAR Cup Atlanta

All you have to do is reply to this post and pick up to 10 drivers! Max of 7 per series. The cutoff is Friday 4th March at 12.59pm GMT. The Rally starts at 7am Mexican time which is 1pm UK time, so that’s the deadline.  I’m hoping to attract a few more entries when the F1 and IndyCar seasons start in Week 7, so why not get an entry in this week?

For the full results from Week 5, read on.

How To Enter

1. Reply to this post.

2. List up to 10 drivers, with no more than 7 from a single event.

3. Send your entry before the stated deadline, usually some time on a Friday. You can make as many changes as you like until the closing point, I’ll take your last entry.

Strategy will come into it in future weeks – there’s not a rule stating you have to choose from each race, any combination of up to 10 drivers is accepted. You might pick a couple from each series, or you might Most weeks feature 2 or 3 races, some weeks have more and some less.

Don’t worry if you didn’t enter the first few weeks – there can be big differences in scoring from week to week so you have the chance to catch up, or how about just playing for fun?

Further information can be found on the  game sub-page.

Week 5: Points Awarded This Week

Player NASCAR Week 5
1 Pat W 193 193
2 Startledbunny 193 193
3 Sebastian 175 175
4 James 174 174
5 Sean 171 171
6 The Speedgeek 141 141 (co)
7 Jon Waldock 132 132 (co)
8 RG 129 129
9 Burwellian 124 124
10 Dank 123 123 (co)
11 Jackie 114 114

Um. Yeah. So I won this week, along with Startledbunny who makes an impressive return after a couple of weeks off to score the same as me, while Sebastian, James and Sean again score well. I have marked the ‘carryover’ scores with “(co)”, those people who didn’t enter but carried forward their previous week’s entry, that’s not to single anyone out but purely so you can see if it is worth doing or not. Jackie managed to double her previous score but is unfortunately still at the back, better luck this week.

Week 5: Overall Standings

Pos Pre +/- Name Prior Wk 5 Total
1 1 0 James 559 174 733
2 2 0 The Speedgeek 536 141 677
3 5 2 Pat W 474 193 667
4 3 -1 RG 529 129 658
5 4 -1 Dank 485 123 608
6 7 1 Sebastian 403 175 578
7 8 1 Sean 389 171 560
8 6 -2 Burwellian 427 124 551
9 9 0 Jon Waldock 376 132 508
10 11 1 Startledbunny 145 193 338
11 10 -1 Jackie 174 114 288

James retains his lead and extends his advantage slightly. I’ve made up two positions and Sebastian and Sean are making use of their NASCAR knowledge to continue their march up the order. It is a very tight field, anything can happen this week particularly since there are two events to choose from.

Week 6

There are TWO events this week.

NASCAR Cup – Atlanta

While the entry list is here you may prefer to look at the points table or the results of the last race for pointers to current form. It’s interesting to note the 1st, 2nd and 4th places were identical for the last two races, so pick well!

WRC – Rally Mexico

The entry list hasn’t been published on WRC.com or the event website as of the time of writing. I’ll keep checking during the week and will update this post if it appears. In the meantime, here are the points standings. The top 12-15 entrants will be in World Rally Cars so you’ll almost certainly pick from those, though there are also the Super 2000 and Production cars running this week (the Junior WRC will kick off later in the year).

More Information

I have revised the TMR Game sub-section of the site. It now contains more information and in a more readable format. You’ll find the above points tables, a short summary of the rules, a schedule of events, a table showing TMR points scored by the top ten in each series (that’s game points not series’ own points), and then a nerdy table for geeks like me which shows the combined driver scores so far (essentially meaningless, just some harmless fun!).

Thanks to Sebastian for his feedback last week, I agree with the idea of posting these updates earlier to allow people more time to enter, so I plan to do them every Tuesday (though the USF1 news delayed me tonight!). Also just as a note for upcoming weeks (I’ll make a bigger note next week): I will be on holiday for the Week 9 post which is scheduled to have Sebring’s results and accept entries for Albert Park. That will be an automated post as I’ll be out of the country, and I will cover those results the following week.

That’s all for this week, have fun!

  2. Sebastian and Sean are making use of their NASCAR knowledge

In my case, for ‘knowledge’ read ‘Google’.

Although I re-submitted so it was not a carry-over, I did enter the same combination both weeks.
