Calendar

In order to watch too much racing you will need to know when it happens. Keep up with your favourite racing series by adding IWTMR Calendars to your Google Calendar, Apple iCal, Microsoft Outlook, or any other service which supports the ICAL or HTML formats.

Just click the link for the series you want to import and it will appear in your calendar.

Scroll down to the table below to pick your championships!

Scroll beneath the table for reasons you should use these calendars!

Email Alerts Broken

Part of the functionality of Google Calendar is to be able to be notified by email whenever there is a change to a calendar. This seems to be broken. Every time I add a date to F1 or MotoGP I get a load of emails back saying the notification email has been blocked. There is no error message included and I have no idea why it is doing it.

Calendar List

Each series has a header and three items underneath the header:

  • Link to series website for latest news and weekend timetable.
  • ICAL link.
  • HTML link.

For iCal (iPhone, iPad, Mac) and possibly others:
Tap the ICAL link. ICAL is not restricted to Apple devices, try it on others.

For Google Calendar:
Click the HTML link then click the +GoogleCalendar icon at the bottom right.

Other:
Try both links and pick the one that works best for your app.

Apps work differently:

  • Some apps subscribe to real time updates, this means when I change a date it will update for you as well. Google Calendar does this.
  • Other apps download the data one time only and you will need to come back here to get the most recent files.

I recommend Google Calendar, it’s what I use to create these calendars and it updates your list immediately when I post an update.

Why Use These Calendars?

June 2015 IWTM Calendar with 21st selected.
June 2015 IWTM Calendar with the 14th selected. (click for large)

Agenda for 21st June 2015
Agenda for 13th June 2015 and the following few days (click for large)

I’ve been updating these since the 2011 racing season. Many decisions have been taken with experience, such as to make the usability the best it can be and to reduce the admin overhead. I listen to feedback but that doesn’t mean I’ll implement it!

One championship or series = One calendar

Customise Colours
In Google Calendar you can colour-code each championship, e.g. red for F1, purple for bikes, green for endurance, brown for off-road. Or anything you like!

Races Only
Races are why we are all here. Practice sessions clutter the feed meaning you can’t find the races. Trust me, I’ve tried. Clarity is better.

Dates, Not Times
Sorry, it is a big job track race times. Unfortunately these aren’t always released when the dates themselves are released which means I would have to check them every week. I don’t have the time in my personal life to dedicate to this for 30+ series on a weekly basis. I see my job as telling you what weekend a race is happening and leave it to you to check the start time and timezone conversion.

No TV Times
I don’t know where you live!

Event Titles
Event titles are as consistent as possible. A shortened series name followed by the event name and sometimes a comment.

F1 – Singapore Grand Prix
IndyCar – 106th
Indianapolis 500
WEC – 24 Heures du Mans
GTWC Europe – Hockenheim (3hr)
NASCAR Cup – Blu-Emu Maximum Pain Relief 500 (Martinsville)

I try to keep the correct name where I can but these entries need to be readable on mobile, so I will shorten them or make them easier to read.

If the race is just a sponsor name I will include the track to make it easier to know that the Blu-Emu Maximum Pain Relief 500 is at Martinsville. I know it’s in the location field as well but let’s make life easy.

Multiple races on the same day will have a comment, e.g.
28 Aug – BTCC – Thruxton (3 races)

Series that have standalone races on different days will have two entries, e.g.
3 Dec – Repco Supercars – Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500 R1 (250km)
4 Dec – Repco Supercars – Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500 R2 (250km)

Rallies and endurance races get one entry for the entire event. This includes the Creventic 24H Series, which often runs the first few hours on a Friday, throws a yellow and parks up overnight, then runs the rest of the race the next morning.

‘Misc’ Calendar
Catch-all. It includes such things as the Dakar Rally, Goodwood Festival of Speed, Isle of Man TT, Nurburgring 24 Hours and anything else that pops into my head.

‘Other Sport’ Calendar
I made this for my own benefit for the Olympics & Paralympics. I like to know that I’m not going to miss the Tour de France or the Six Nations! It is heavily biased toward sports I watch, isn’t updated very often and maybe it should be private, I just thought it might help other people know when the clashes are.

Original entries MUST remain unchanged – do not make edits to the primary calendars. I think I’ve made them Read Only but I’m never sure. You may copy them to your own calendar and amend them there.

This service is only a guide. If you miss a race based on an error in the calendars, do not blame me! Yes, this has happened.

There are a lot of calendars now, including series I don’t watch. It is very easy to miss things. Please help me out if you see if something has changed!

If you find these useful please do comment and most importantly share them.

  1. Dear my friend, soon you will need to update F1 calendar because there is a replace race on 25th Sep 2022. 🙂 (big chance for Qatar)

  2. Hey Pat, thanks so much. Motoamerica would be a great addition!
A lot of new viewers because of the Motogp Dakar star Danilo Petrucci who moved to the championship this year.

  3. Any chance of putting the World of Outlaws Sprintcar schedule up there. Top job BTW. I depend upon your calendars. Outstanding work. You are a true hero for petrolheads.

  4. Thanks for the comment. I looked at the news release for the 2022 schedule and it talked about 80 events this year just for the sprint cars (let alone the late models). That’s just too many for me to do on top of all the rest. Sorry!

Any chance you can add Formula Drift? 😀

    Thanks for your hard work!

  6. For the N24, you know of the change in presenting sponsor that started with the ’21 edition? Also, any chance the N24 Qualifying races scheduled for this weekend (May 7 & 8) can be added onto the Special Events calendar?

  7. Hi,
@Ignacio I’ve been under a lot of pressure elsewhere so I’m not adding any more new series at the moment.
@Christopher Thanks, I’ve made sponsor change. The quali race is happening as I type this so I’ll leave it for this year but I’ll look to include it next season.

There’s no Supercars round next weekend. The next and final round is 1-4 December.
    Cheers.

  14. Phil, Don’t get me wrong, I like Russel…. but Russel and this less-talented mick would be a critical and dangerous mix for merc. They need a real machine (person) with knowledge, power and experience…. that’s not Russel (yet) and will, 😂, ofc never this Mick with just a nice-sounding last name

  17. Pat, thanks for all the calendars this year. They saved me a lot of time and hassle. Please look for some tea and beer money in your PayPal tip jar.

(Everyone, you’ll find the yellow PayPal tip jar icon at the bottom of the page. If you can afford it, consider dropping some cash in there).

I’m looking forward to 2023! I believe the next major international motorsport event is the Dakar which runs Dec 31 to Jan 15. After that, it’s WRC Rallye Monte-Carlo which runs Jan 19 – 22.

Have a great Christmas and a Happy New Year everyone!!

  18. Hey all, just to give you all a guide, I’m planning to spend at least one day between Christmas & New Year on the championships which start in January to March, and any other major ones. Let’s see how it goes as I don’t want to lose the whole holiday doing it, but I think if I dedicate one day I can make a lot of progress. Perhaps then during January I will work on the championships that start in March & April.

Secondly, could you upload the 2023 calendars?

  20. Hi,
Working on it. Earlier this week I did some the ones which start earliest:
Formula E, WRC, AMA Supercross (starts next weekend!), 24H Series, Asian Le Mans Series

The only ones for January not done yet are the IMSA sportscars series, so these are at the top of the list. After that I will focus on motorcycle racing as I know it is the most popular.

On Twitter, there will be a pinned tweet on 1st January and that will start a thread of updates, probably one every day.

Please keep an eye on the table on this page, the ‘last updated’ column be more up to date than Twitter, I change this as soon as an update is done.

    Thanks!
