Calendar

In order to watch too much racing you will need to know when it happens. Keep up with your favourite racing series by adding IWTMR Calendars to your Google Calendar, Apple iCal, Microsoft Outlook, or any other service which supports the ICAL or HTML formats.

Just click the link for the series you want to import and it will appear in your calendar.

Scroll down to the table below to pick your championships!

Scroll beneath the table for reasons you should use these calendars!

2022 Season

Fully complete as at 28 February!

New additions:
– FIM Speedway GP
– AMA Flat Track
– AMA Supercross
– AMA Pro Motocross
– MotoAmerica

Email Alerts Broken

Part of the functionality of Google Calendar is to be able to be notified by email whenever there is a change to a calendar. This seems to be broken. Every time I add a date to F1 or MotoGP I get a load of emails back saying the notification email has been blocked. There is no error message included and I have no idea why it is doing it.

Calendar List

Each series has a header and three items underneath the header:

  • Link to series website for latest news and weekend timetable.
  • ICAL link.
  • HTML link.

For iCal (iPhone, iPad, Mac) and possibly others:
Tap the ICAL link. ICAL is not restricted to Apple devices, try it on others.

For Google Calendar:
Click the HTML link then click the +GoogleCalendar icon at the bottom right.

Other:
Try both links and pick the one that works best for your app.

Apps work differently:

  • Some apps subscribe to real time updates, this means when I change a date it will update for you as well. Google Calendar does this.
  • Other apps download the data one time only and you will need to come back here to get the most recent files.

I recommend Google Calendar, it’s what I use to create these calendars and it updates your list immediately when I post an update.

Why Use These Calendars?

June 2015 IWTM Calendar with 21st selected.
June 2015 IWTM Calendar with the 14th selected. (click for large)

Agenda for 21st June 2015
Agenda for 13th June 2015 and the following few days (click for large)

I’ve been updating these since the 2011 racing season. Many decisions have been taken with experience, such as to make the usability the best it can be and to reduce the admin overhead. I listen to feedback but that doesn’t mean I’ll implement it!

One championship or series = One calendar

Customise Colours
In Google Calendar you can colour-code each championship, e.g. red for F1, purple for bikes, green for endurance, brown for off-road. Or anything you like!

Races Only
Races are why we are all here. Practice sessions clutter the feed meaning you can’t find the races. Trust me, I’ve tried. Clarity is better.

Dates, Not Times
Sorry, it is a big job track race times. Unfortunately these aren’t always released when the dates themselves are released which means I would have to check them every week. I don’t have the time in my personal life to dedicate to this for 30+ series on a weekly basis. I see my job as telling you what weekend a race is happening and leave it to you to check the start time and timezone conversion.

No TV Times
I don’t know where you live!

Event Titles
Event titles are as consistent as possible. A shortened series name followed by the event name and sometimes a comment.

F1 – Singapore Grand Prix
IndyCar – 106th
Indianapolis 500
WEC – 24 Heures du Mans
GTWC Europe – Hockenheim (3hr)
NASCAR Cup – Blu-Emu Maximum Pain Relief 500 (Martinsville)

I try to keep the correct name where I can but these entries need to be readable on mobile, so I will shorten them or make them easier to read.

If the race is just a sponsor name I will include the track to make it easier to know that the Blu-Emu Maximum Pain Relief 500 is at Martinsville. I know it’s in the location field as well but let’s make life easy.

Multiple races on the same day will have a comment, e.g.
28 Aug – BTCC – Thruxton (3 races)

Series that have standalone races on different days will have two entries, e.g.
3 Dec – Repco Supercars – Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500 R1 (250km)
4 Dec – Repco Supercars – Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500 R2 (250km)

Rallies and endurance races get one entry for the entire event. This includes the Creventic 24H Series, which often runs the first few hours on a Friday, throws a yellow and parks up overnight, then runs the rest of the race the next morning.

‘Misc’ Calendar
Catch-all. It includes such things as the Dakar Rally, Goodwood Festival of Speed, Isle of Man TT, Nurburgring 24 Hours and anything else that pops into my head.

‘Other Sport’ Calendar
I made this for my own benefit for the Olympics & Paralympics. I like to know that I’m not going to miss the Tour de France or the Six Nations! It is heavily biased toward sports I watch, isn’t updated very often and maybe it should be private, I just thought it might help other people know when the clashes are.

This service is only a guide. If you miss a race based on an error in the calendars, do not blame me! Yes, this has happened.

There are a lot of calendars now, including series I don’t watch. It is very easy to miss things. Please help me out if you see if something has changed!

If you find these useful please do comment and most importantly share them.

  1. Thanks for the calendars.. Take a look at how they implemented this on f1calendar.com.. Somehow they’ve managed to make the event to your timezone and then you download.

Round 7 from Circuito de Navarra, Spain on 20 – 22 AUG
    👍 Thanks again.

  3. Just noticed GT World Challenge America has VIR still as 12/13 June, should be 5/6 June. Love the work you put in 👌

  4. Thanks for the calendars and the effort to go to keeping them up to date. Would it by possible to get a calendar for American Flat Track?

  5. I wasn’t planning to add any more series until post-pandemic, perhaps the upcoming off-season. I’ll certainly consider AMA and AFT for 2022 though, which would likely lead to Speedway GP as well. Keep checking back.

I’ve just amended MotoGP and F1 to remove Australia, and although it has passed now I’ve also changed DTM. I also found out the IMSA race just gone was actually on Friday.

  6. I’ll add Formula E soon, I just want to give them a chance to mess around with it first. The first version is never accurate. 🙂

  7. @jph6t – Thanks! Don’t know how I missed that, Xfinity was there – well spotted. I added now even though it’s gone past, in case anyone is checking back.

  8. Thanks Pat! Confirmed, all fixed. I do sometimes check back, so I appreciate your adding it after the event.

  9. Thanks. Hopefully this will be the last change for this year.

    Updated today:
    F1 Qatar GP
Supercars all the racing at Eastern Creek
24H Series dropping Pergusa for Hungaroring

The latter two might get a time-out, they’ve been so bad this year I’m half tempted to remove them and come back next year.

  10. I’ve been a bit burned out with things offline so I’ve not been keeping an eye on changes. And there have been a lot!

Trying to find a job (I’m working a temp job in the meantime), attending a funeral last week, and an ageing PC that makes me not want to use it.

When I can replace the computer I’ll feel like I can do 2022 properly.

Hoping for a more normal 2022 with more fixed dates, otherwise I might be trimming back the number of calendars.

  12. Hi all,
I’m pleased to say I now I have a new laptop! Consigned the old heap of junk 8 year old desktop to the dustbin.
2022 season updates are in progress. The Last Updated column of the table on this page will show you where I am, I’ll also post updates to Twitter.
    Happy New Year!

  13. Hi Pat, are you gonna update the events with the correct times (time the race/quali/practices starts) in the future? Keep up with the good work. I’m loving it.

  14. Hi all. I just started a new job so I’ve had my head in that for the last two weeks.

I’ve just added Extreme E which starts this weekend and the remaining rally & rallycross.

Next up: MXGP – also starts this weekend! – and the drag racing.

Then the new stuff: I’ve had several requests for Speedway GP, AMA Flat Track, AMA Supercross, so I hope to do those by the weekend.

I wasn’t planning to include any drifting tbh.

  15. Hey Pat,

Thanks for the calendars and the recent Speedway GP inclusion. Have a beer on me. I’ve been using these calendars for years and appreciate your work.

  16. Pat – Thanks for putting up all these wonderful calendars!
I love the standardization method you use for formatting the syntax of each event.

The only series you don’t have that I really wish was included is the Trans Am Series:
    https://gotransam.com/events/2022-Trans-Am-Championship/cat/530

I realize you are already supporting a ton of calendars, but should you ever get the itch to add one more I know quite a few people who would use it!

  17. Thanks jph!
On my old Android I would pick my favourite series and they would appear on my lock screen, it looked fantastic all in similar format. I need to figure that out on my current iPhone.

Trans Am is a good idea. I’m not actively looking for them but it does fit. I’ve got a bit on right now, give me a day or two.

  18. Thank you very much! I’ve had the habit of adding all the interesting racing events to my calender in the spring. You saved me an hour of my precious life! Was now able to watch the Moto2 qualifying in that time 😀 Would adding the IRRC events be possible? Here the link to the organiser webpage, events: https://www.irrc.eu/circuits
