Calendar

In order to watch too much racing you will need to know when it happens. Keep up with your favourite racing series by adding IWTMR Calendars to your Google Calendar, Apple iCal, Microsoft Outlook, or any other service which supports the ICAL or HTML formats.

Just click the link for the series you want to import and it will appear in your calendar.

Scroll down to the table below to pick your championships!

Scroll beneath the table for reasons you should use these calendars!

Email Alerts Broken

Part of the functionality of Google Calendar is to be able to be notified by email whenever there is a change to a calendar. This seems to be broken. Every time I add a date to F1 or MotoGP I get a load of emails back saying the notification email has been blocked. There is no error message included and I have no idea why it is doing it.

Calendar List

Each series has a header and three items underneath the header:

  • Link to series website for latest news and weekend timetable.
  • ICAL link.
  • HTML link.

For iCal (iPhone, iPad, Mac) and possibly others:
Tap the ICAL link. ICAL is not restricted to Apple devices, try it on others.

For Google Calendar:
Click the HTML link then click the +GoogleCalendar icon at the bottom right.

Other:
Try both links and pick the one that works best for your app.

Apps work differently:

  • Some apps subscribe to real time updates, this means when I change a date it will update for you as well. Google Calendar does this.
  • Other apps download the data one time only and you will need to come back here to get the most recent files.

I recommend Google Calendar, it’s what I use to create these calendars and it updates your list immediately when I post an update.

Why Use These Calendars?

June 2015 IWTM Calendar with 21st selected.
June 2015 IWTM Calendar with the 14th selected. (click for large)

Agenda for 21st June 2015
Agenda for 13th June 2015 and the following few days (click for large)

I’ve been updating these since the 2011 racing season. Many decisions have been taken with experience, such as to make the usability the best it can be and to reduce the admin overhead. I listen to feedback but that doesn’t mean I’ll implement it!

One championship or series = One calendar

Customise Colours
In Google Calendar you can colour-code each championship, e.g. red for F1, purple for bikes, green for endurance, brown for off-road. Or anything you like!

Races Only
Races are why we are all here. Practice sessions clutter the feed meaning you can’t find the races. Trust me, I’ve tried. Clarity is better.

Dates, Not Times
Sorry, it is a big job track race times. Unfortunately these aren’t always released when the dates themselves are released which means I would have to check them every week. I don’t have the time in my personal life to dedicate to this for 30+ series on a weekly basis. I see my job as telling you what weekend a race is happening and leave it to you to check the start time and timezone conversion.

No TV Times
I don’t know where you live!

Event Titles
Event titles are as consistent as possible. A shortened series name followed by the event name and sometimes a comment.

F1 – Singapore Grand Prix
IndyCar – 106th
Indianapolis 500
WEC – 24 Heures du Mans
GTWC Europe – Hockenheim (3hr)
NASCAR Cup – Blu-Emu Maximum Pain Relief 500 (Martinsville)

I try to keep the correct name where I can but these entries need to be readable on mobile, so I will shorten them or make them easier to read.

If the race is just a sponsor name I will include the track to make it easier to know that the Blu-Emu Maximum Pain Relief 500 is at Martinsville. I know it’s in the location field as well but let’s make life easy.

Multiple races on the same day will have a comment, e.g.
28 Aug – BTCC – Thruxton (3 races)

Series that have standalone races on different days will have two entries, e.g.
3 Dec – Repco Supercars – Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500 R1 (250km)
4 Dec – Repco Supercars – Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500 R2 (250km)

Rallies and endurance races get one entry for the entire event. This includes the Creventic 24H Series, which often runs the first few hours on a Friday, throws a yellow and parks up overnight, then runs the rest of the race the next morning.

‘Misc’ Calendar
Catch-all. It includes such things as the Dakar Rally, Goodwood Festival of Speed, Isle of Man TT, Nurburgring 24 Hours and anything else that pops into my head.

‘Other Sport’ Calendar
I made this for my own benefit for the Olympics & Paralympics. I like to know that I’m not going to miss the Tour de France or the Six Nations! It is heavily biased toward sports I watch, isn’t updated very often and maybe it should be private, I just thought it might help other people know when the clashes are.

This service is only a guide. If you miss a race based on an error in the calendars, do not blame me! Yes, this has happened.

There are a lot of calendars now, including series I don’t watch. It is very easy to miss things. Please help me out if you see if something has changed!

If you find these useful please do comment and most importantly share them.

  2. Hi,
If you are looking for specific start times please use MotoGP.com.
My service is for following race dates across multiple championships, I can’t drill down to times for so many series.
    Thanks.

  3. Coronavirus / Covid-19 has been causing problems for organisers. Several changes have been made and the situation remains fluid. I have made the following changes:

Formula E: Sanya and Rome cancelled. Possibility later races may become double-headers.

    Formula 1: Chinese GP postponed/cancelled.

MotoGP: Qatar is for Moto2 and Moto3 only. Thailand moved to October. Aragon moved 2 weeks earlier.

24H Series: Monza moved from March to July. Estoril takes the March date.

    FIA WEC: Sebring 1000 cancelled.

IMSA: Sebring 12 Hours moved to November.

IndyCar: St Pete currently going to go ahead behind closed doors.

  6. Imre, I’m very unlikely to do PSC for the same reason I’m very unlikely to do Ferrari Challenge or Lambo Super Trofeo. The number of people who care is going to be very small relative the effort.

Tim, thanks for the BSB link, I forgot to comment here but I changed it not long after I saw the comment.

jph6t, thanks, have changed, although I’m not sure why you’d want a date for something in the past!

I also noticed today that VA Supercars is at Sydney for a second time and not at Winton so I’ve changed that as well.

I stopped updating the separate post, no need now.

  7. Oh and if you hadn’t noticed the Calendars are now the main page of the site! I need to edit it down a bit but that’s a task for when things are quieter.

The blog section is still accessible from the menu bar and the last 5 posts are on the side bar. I don’t get time to blog these days, much as I’d like it.

  8. Hi guys,

    START TIMES

I have started pulling together start times for races on my Twitter account. Just go to twitter.com/toomuchracing and see the pinned tweet or its immediate reply.
As start times are only available in advance for the big championships, and a large number of races do not confirm their start times until race week – especially in the era of Covid-19 – I cannot do the Google & iCal Calendars with start times. And there are too many to change individually.
But I can check every week and post a summary to Twitter in an image.

    Example:

  12. Hi all:
I know 2021 race dates are being announced now.
But with Covid still about, I am very sceptical about the chances of races happening when they are planned.
I’d like to wait a little bit longer so that I don’t have to keep editing the dates.
It might be after the December FIA World Council meeting that I start to work on them.
    Thanks
    Pat

  13. Hey Pat,
Firstly, once again thanks for the great work collating these calendars. The WRX calendar has changed again with this weekends scheduled round in Portugal being cancelled. Rounds 7 and 8 now take place a week apart in Spain over the one day each. For now, Round 9 is still in Belgium along with Round 10 in Germany. Both of these last two rounds take place over the usual 2 days for a WRX round.
    Cheers!

OK changed. Hopefully this is the last one!
I’ve left the others as Sunday only, as Saturday is qualifying rounds, is that how it works?

  17. I have renamed a couple of calendars within Google so they may have moved for you in the list:
    MotoGP -> FIM MotoGP
    WSBK -> FIM WSBK
And new calendar -> FIM EWC
This puts them all together if you order them alphabetically.

  19. Hi Mark,
Yes there are a lot of gaps at the moment. I’ve been holding back as dates are still changing by the week, just trying to avoid last year’s situation of getting lost amid all the changes. I’m going to have to commit at some point soon, it’ll be series like NASCAR and NHRA first as those are due to start first. Thanks for the support!

  23. Hi, thank you so much for these calendars! They’re an incredible resource and I’m happy to donate.

One suggestion – have you considered adding Extreme E?
    https://www.extreme-e.com/en/race-calendar
The calendar is small with only 5 events. It also features big names like Hamilton, Button, Rosberg, Sainz, Ogier, etc, so it might be popular enough to be worth the effort.

    Thanks again!

  24. Hi Akash,
I have considered it yes. Normally I wait a year for a new series, to see what the popularity is, but as you say with big names such as these it may be worth it straight away. Give me a few days to check interest.
Thanks for the comment and donation!

  25. Repco Supercars have delayed the next round by one week because of COVID restrictions.

“Supercars statement regarding Beaurepaires Tasmania SuperSprint.

Supercars has made the precautionary decision to delay the upcoming Tasmanian event by one week, due to the COVID-19 situation in Queensland.

The event will now be held on the 17-18th April.”
