TMR Game 2011 – Week 16

Hello and welcome to TMR Game Week 16.

This post accepts entries for:

– MotoGP Le Mans (Bugatti Circuit)
– DTM Zandvoort
– NASCAR Cup Dover

Housekeeping

Each week you pick 10 entries with a maximum of 7 of those coming from a single championship. You can have any mix of races from those listed in this post, and you don’t have to use all of them.

See this page for the game rules.

Email reminders will be sent on Thursdays or Fridays by either myself or Sebastian. Please leave a valid email address in the comment form. If you do not wish to receive reminders please let us know, otherwise we’ll assume we’re okay to send them. Also let us know (privately if you prefer) if you would like to use a different address to the one you use here. I may also use Twitter or other sites if I happen to see you there on Thursday or Friday.

I really enjoyed the Spa race, so good to get some LMP action again with a decently-sized field, and the GTE battle was pretty good too. The Turkish GP was all-action throughout, I couldn’t turn away. Two great races. I missed the NASCAR but with that topsy-turvey finishing order, dare I ask whether it was a good one?

Congratulations Felipe! Good scores too from Rubbergoat, Sean, Sebastian and Maverick, who’d picked the same as Sebastian. Indeed the top six all correctly picked the top 4 ILMC finishers as well as 1st, 2nd and 4th in the F1 race.

Commiserations to Ryan and Dylan who bring up the rear after making a few NASCAR picks which didn’t pay off.

As Sean identified in the comments of last week’s post, this table proves the right strategy with Darlington on the schedule is to go for a strong sportscar/F1 mix. Do also take a look at the more detailed sheet produced by Sebastian.

Sean edges a few more points further away from Sebastian.

Rubbergoat moves into 3rd position, with myself 4th and Felipe jumps two spots to claim 5th. Sadly James drops several places after not entering, at least we have the 80% rule now so he’s still in contention for a top 3 or 4 finish.

‘Bunny is up into 8th. Maverick made some good gains to regain some lost ground on fellow VivaF1 player Jackie. Speedgeek moved up a spot too, while Ryan and Jay drop back. It seems as though Mike is no longer playing.

Upcoming Races

There are three races this weekend which count towards the game.

MotoGP: French Grand Prix, Le Mans

The hairpins of the Bugatti Circuit play host to the French round of the series, which for some reason seems to attract rain if I remember the past few years correctly. www.motogp.com

DTM: Zandvoort

The second round of the late-starting DTM series visits the sandy Dutch track, the modern version of which has a reputation for a lack of passing. That seems an apt fit for a championship with a modern reputation for a lack of passing. Such a shame when both the series and venue in past versions used to be known for their overtaking possibilities. www.dtm.com (EN)

NASCAR Cup: Dover

To Delaware and the one-miler paved with concrete, ‘the Monster Mile’.  www.nascar.com

Good luck!

  1. Amazing reliability for the LMP1 cars at Spa with all ten that started finishing top-ten. I was deeply unimpressed by Harvick; he repeatedly drove into Kyle’s car and then went ape after Busch hit his car.

    DTM:
    Bruno Spengler
    Gary Paffett
    Timo Scheider
    Mattias Ekström
    Jamie Green

  3. Wow, a win, after Spa qualifying I didn´t seem like the LMP1 cars picked were the right ones. Very cool. 😀

  4. My ideal picks for this week would have been the exact same that Felipe Gana just made, but since I don’t want to be accused of ripping off his picks (even though I think they basically are the best), I traded Rossi for Dovizioso.

    MotoGP: Dovizioso, Lorenzo, Pedrosa, Stoner
    DTM: Ekström, Paffett, Scheider, Spengler
    Cup: Ky. Busch, Johnson

  5. Actually, recalling last weekend’s feud, I’m going to switch Kyle Busch to Carl Edwards also. I’m not sure trusting Kyle to finish a week after that outburst is a safe bet.

Picks are just variations on a theme this week, mentally I always picture MotoGP and DTM as being a bit more open than they really are. I might regret picking Tomczyk over Scheider but I fancied doing something different.

  15. I talked with Jay last night on Twitter and he asked me to nominate his last MotoGP and NASCAR picks if he couldn’t get an entry in on time. There’s no entry so I’ve taken his five riders from MotoGP in Week 10 and his five NASCAR drivers from Week 11.

    Pedrosa
