Congrats to Startledbunny for another win!

I had a terrible round, with Rebellion and Webber both retiring.

Please see the results produced by Sebastian for a break-down driver by driver (I awarded an extra point for Rebellion #12 finishing 41st on laps completed, rather than something like 46th officially after it retired).

Andy jumps me for 4th after that terrible round even though he was fairly well down the order too.

I’m surprised more positions aren’t changing, if you look at the points gaps between positions on the right-hand side it is very close between several players.

Races This Week

IndyCar Motegi

This’ll mark IndyCar’s final visit to Twin-Ring Motegi except this year instead of using the oval, which was damaged in the earthquake, they’ll be using the other ‘ring’, the road course used by Formula Nippon and Super GT (I’m not sure if MotoGP uses the exact same layout, it may do).

Despite having a reputation as a ‘bike track to those of us outside Japan, it isn’t a narrow place all the way around, and seems comparable to many 80s and 90s European tracks in width. I’ve only ever seen MotoGP race here aside from a short FNippon clip (which I may put in a blog post later in the week), so it’ll be fascinating to see how cars race here.

ALMS Laguna Seca

Just a week after the ILMC round, and only two weeks after the ALMS last held a race, it is time for their next one. No wonder US teams baulk at trying to enter both series!

This is a four-hour race around the classic Californian venue. The watch-phrase here is: “gravel traps”. There was an ALMS round here once which had so many safety cars due to cars being recovered from gravel traps they must’ve had more yellow than green.

NASCAR Cup Chicagoland

This is the first race of the ‘Chase for the Championship’, so expect the top runners to be going all out to secure themselves a points advantage.

MotoGP Aragon

This track may only be a couple of years old but it seems to be quickly becoming a fixture in the calendar. It is a bit of an under-rated track actually. An interesting sequence of hills leading into a Tilke trademark ultra-long straight, downhill this time. I’m not sure current spec MotoGP will be too great there though, that downhill will be lapped up by the Hondas.

DTM Oschersleben

Awful, Mickey Mouse kart-style track. Featureless, start/stop, hairpin after hairpin with possibly one of the worst opening corners in racing. I suspect they only go here to facilitate an otherwise under-served market in the East. They good news? The new-for-2012 cars have been unveiled and they look like a big improvement, so we should see better racing next year!

Good luck!
