Calendar

In order to watch too much racing you will need to know when it happens. Keep up with your favourite racing series by adding these calendars to your Google Calendar, Apple iCal, Microsoft Outlook, or any other service which supports the ICAL or HTML formats.

Just click the link for the racing series you want to import and it will appear in your calendar.

If you use Google or iCal the updates should appear automatically without needing to do any more.
If you download and import them into an offline calendar you will need to update them from time to time.

Scroll down to the table below to pick your championships!

Scroll beneath the table for reasons you should use these calendars!

Email Alerts

Many people get email notifications when I add an event or update it. This is not my intention.

HOW TO TURN THIS OFF:  Go to the Calendar’s Settings and change Notifications from ‘Email’ to ‘None’, or follow the instructions on this website.

When you add calendars to your Google Calendar, please check the setting and turn this off. I cannot do this from the admin side, it’s an opt-in service Google turns on by default.

Calendar List

Each series has a header and three items underneath the header:

  • Link to series website for latest news and weekend timetable.
  • ICAL link.
  • HTML link.

For iCal (iPhone, iPad, Mac) – and possibly others:
Copy the ICAL link. Open iCal and find Add Calendar and choose Add Subscription Calendar, then paste the link into the box.
ICAL is not restricted to Apple devices, try it on others.

For Google Calendar:
Click the HTML link then click the +GoogleCalendar icon at the bottom right.

Other:
Try both links and pick the one that works best for your app.

Apps work differently:

  • Some apps subscribe to real time updates, this means when I change a date it will update for you as well. Google Calendar does this.
  • Other apps download the data one time only and you will need to come back here to get the most recent files.

I recommend Google Calendar, it’s what I use to create these calendars and it updates your list as soon as I press Save on an event.

Why Use These Calendars?

A list of calendar dates in Google Calendar with F1, IndyCar, IMSA and WEC selected for April to June 2026
Google Calendar for April & May 2026, with F1, IndyCar, IMSA & WEC selected

Google Calendar dates shown in grid format for F1, IndyCar, IMSA, WEC.
April 2026 in grid format with F1, IndyCar, IMSA & WEC selected.

I’ve been updating these since the 2011 racing season. Many decisions have been taken with experience, such as to make the usability the best it can be and to reduce the admin overhead. I listen to feedback but that doesn’t mean I’ll implement it!

One championship or series = One calendar

Customise Colours
In Google Calendar you can colour-code each championship, e.g. red for F1, purple for bikes, green for endurance, brown for off-road. Or anything you like!

Races Only
Races are why we are all here. Practice sessions clutter the feed meaning you can’t find the races. Trust me, I’ve tried. Clarity is better.

Dates, Not Times
Sorry, it is a big job track race times. Unfortunately these aren’t always released when the dates themselves are released which means I would have to check them every week. I don’t have the time in my personal life to dedicate to this for 30+ series on a weekly basis. I see my job as telling you what weekend a race is happening and leave it to you to check the start time and timezone conversion.

No TV Times
I don’t know where you live!

Event Titles
Event titles are as consistent as possible. A series name followed by the event name. If the location is not in the name I will add it at the end. For endurance races I will usually include the time or distance. Multiple races in one day will also be noted. If there is a race on Saturday and a race on Sunday these will be shown separately. 24Hr races will be a single event spanning 2 days.

F1 | Singapore Grand Prix
IndyCar | 106th
Indianapolis 500
WEC | 24 Heures du Mans
GTWC Europe | Hockenheim | 3hr
NASCAR Cup | Blu-Emu Maximum Pain Relief 500 | Martinsville
BTCC | Thruxton | 3 races
Repco Supercars | Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500 | R1 | 250km
Repco Supercars | Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500 | R2 | 250km

I try to keep the correct name where I can but these entries need to be readable on mobile, so I will shorten them or make them easier to read.

‘Misc’ Calendar
Catch-all. It includes such things as the Goodwood Festival of Speed, Isle of Man TT  and anything else that pops into my head.
Note that Dakar is now in the W2RC calendar and Nbr 24 is in IGTC.

‘Other Sport’ Calendar
I don’t always update this. I made it for my own benefit for the Olympics & Paralympics. I like to know that I’m not going to miss the Tour de France or the Six Nations! It is heavily biased toward sports I watch, isn’t updated very often and maybe it should be private, I just thought it might help other people know when the clashes are.

  1. Thank you. FYI – I had a problem copying to Google calendar and found a faster, alternate method. I save the ical file to my desktop then import to google calendar. Works like a charm.

  2. Fantastic job right here mate. If you have some free time, can you do one for the ADAC GT Masters & FIA F3 ? Both series are popular. 🙂

Thank you for all your work !

  3. I use this every year but this time each calendar (ical) comes up with this –

Access to “WRC: Rally Sweden” in “Motorsport” in account “iCloud” is not permitted.

    The server responded:
    “403”
    to operation CalDAVWriteEntityQueueableOperation.

  4. HI Geoff, that’s frustrating.. Searching and reading around, there are a lot of people with this problem and not a lot of fixes. This error is definitely a problem that exists between iCloud and Google Calendar. I haven’t changed any permissions settings.

Have you tried unsubscribing or deleting the WRC calendar, and then re-adding it fresh?
The other thing to try is removing it, then import via the HTML link in my table instead of the ICAL (ics) file.
Otherwise the only suggestions I can find that apparently work, involve backing up your iCloud, remove the iCloud account from your device, restarting, then logging back in and have everything re-download.

  5. Tony, ADAC GT is a good idea, it seems popular in that part of the world and a huge grid! I had F3 but something got corrupted in it, I never got around to remaking it.. I didn’t replace it because I thought I’d then have to include GP3 and the US equivalent level (Pro Mazda?). But maybe the ‘tier 3’ series could be included..

  6. Thanks Pat, I did delete them all and tried to reinstall the calendar from the day before but it locked up after 6 hours. Apple are on the case so i hope they will find a solution (they are very good I have to say). I have a backup so can do as you suggest.
Its just odd as for as long as you’ve been posting them up i’ve used them and all has been sweet – bloody computers, tut!!!

  7. Hate to say it but as Apple popularity grows, so do the problems. I tried to log into AppleTV with my LastPass generated password (random 12 character choice between numbers, upper and lowercase letters and symbols) and it seems the one thing it couldn’t deal with was the ‘%’ character. I was kicked at every attempt until I had a guess and changed my password for something more normal….e.g. without the ‘%’.

I had successfully logged into iCloud and iTunes with the password but AppleTV didn’t seem to like it.

Oversimplification perhaps, but don’t overlook the obvious.

  8. As for everyone else………….Pat does this for nothing folks so perhaps a few more thanks, like just post a ‘thank you’ after you download his hard work. I daresay he would appreciate it and keep the whole thing going.

Note to Pat…….I’m at a loose end for the next few months, if you want a hand, I’ll do what I can.

  9. Geoff, I can only apologise and I wish it was something within my control! Things like this are so frustrating. I hope the backup works.

    David, thanks, much appreciated. 🙂
Almost all calendars for 2016 are up-to-date so it’s just a case of monitoring them. But if you spot anything I’ve not changed feel free to let me know, I am sometimes slow on the uptake after the big update has been done! Maybe a second pair of eyes making sure everything is where it should be?

And I agree about Apple. At work, we have a small number of company iPhones and they are a nightmare. When transferring from the previous handsets to these, you have to take steps in the settings which make no logical sense.

I wonder if there are special characters in some of my event names which are causing problems in some systems..

  10. Found this great site last year and wow did I get all the motoring I needed in all my calendars.

Just updated for 2016. Worked perfect even if I got an interesting mix of Mac, Iphone, Google, shared/published calendars etc. By request by my wife I have a dedicated calender just for IWTMR from now on. 😉

Thank you, so, so much for your effort!!!

  15. Thanks to popular demand I have added FIA F3 Europe and GP3!

There are no GP3 dates yet, or GP2, so once they are announced check back for updates (but give me a day or two to catch up). If you download your calendars you’ll have to re-download at that time. If you subscribe to them I hope the updates come through automatically.

@jasontuk – GP3 link updated, sorry don’t know what happened there! Spotted a couple of other broken links as well which are also now fixed.

I don’t think I’ll be adding drifting for the same reason I don’t watch synchronised swimming..!

  22. Thnx for the calendars…I’m using the Motogp and WSBK calendars couple of years..GREAT STUFF. I noticed that monza is still on the calendar but not in real life. No need to change. It was today.

The format in WSBK has been changed in 2016 they run a race on Saturday and a race on Sunday, before it was 2 races on sunday.

Would it be possible for next year to include this in calendar? Regards Patrick

  24. I’m a bit slow at checking the comments while the blog is in downtime.

Global Rallycross – I’d honestly forgotten that I’d not done it! Sorry. Going in shortly.

WSBK – I thought I’d clocked the format change but apparently not, thanks for pointing it out. I won’t change it now but I will for next year. I hadn’t spotted Monza.

Supercars – I missed that completely as well.

It isn’t easy at all to spot cancellations for series I don’t follow regularly (there are only so many hours in a week!). I don’t consider myself ‘media’ so I don’t sign up for press releases, so please do keep letting me know, it really does help.

The annual renewal and the year-long upkeep of this makes me want to give it up, especially as there are so many more competitors out there now than there were when I started, but seeing so many people using and enjoying it keeps me going.. 🙂

As for the main blog… I hope to write about my visit to the Austrian GP, which I plan to post during the upcoming F1 summer break, which will appear either here or at Sidepodcast or at both.

  25. The calendars are great. One question – in your screenshot above, you can show five events per day in your google calendar (e.g. on 13th June). How do you do this please, as I can only see two appointments.

    Like

  26. @Grimy Whimmy
The only thing I can think of is, maybe some calendars are deselected. Look at the My Calendars list on the left. If some of the boxes are white, click them so a colour appears. I’m not aware of a reason why only two appointments at a time would show, but I may have missed something. Are you viewing on a desktop PC/Mac? If it is a mobile, tablet or small laptop it might be the date fields are smaller and can only fit two at a time.

Just also to say, in case the screenshot fooled you, it for June 2015.

  29. UPDATE 30th December 2016:
Hi all, I have updated most of the major international championships for 2017.

Done: F1, MotoGP, FIA WEC, IMSA, ELMS, IndyCar, Indy Lights, Formula E, WRC, ERC, Creventic 24h. Also in the Miscellaneous section – Dakar, Bathurst 12h, Goodwood FoS.

Not yet done: NASCAR (that’s a big job!), World Superbike, all of the rallycross, GP2, V8 3.5, Blancpain GT, WTCC, BTCC, DTM, V8 Supercar, Super GT, Super Formula.

I plan to do NASCAR next as that will start soonest. The rest I will fill in during January.

    Have a good New Year!

  30. New user, blown away by the comprehensiveness. 1 question: Will I need to update calendars once 2017 is added, or will they auto-update?

    Like

  31. Hi CC,
It depends how you subscribed. If you added them to your Google Calendar they will auto-update. The same should be true of iCal and other web-based apps.
Some separate install-able programs/apps possibly download the dates, if that is the case they will need to be re-subscribed.

  32. UPDATE 8th January 2017:

NASCAR is all done! That was a bit of work, some 80 race dates across 3 series. Thankfully most races have date equity so there aren’t major changes.
I’ve started to try to respect the entitlement sponsor names, including in the race names, but ‘Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series’ is really long so I just called it ‘NASCAR Cup’.
Tier 2 I’ve called ‘NASCAR Xfinity’.
    Trucks are ‘NASCAR Trucks’.

    More coming soon.
