Housekeeping
Each week you pick 10 entries with a maximum of 7 of those coming from a single championship. You can have any mix of races from those listed in this post, and you don’t have to use all of them.
See this page for the game rules.
Email reminders will be sent on Thursdays or Fridays by either myself or Sebastian. Please leave a valid email address in the comment form. If you do not wish to receive reminders please let us know, otherwise we’ll assume we’re okay to send them. Also let us know (privately if you prefer) if you would like to use a different address to the one you use here. I may also use Twitter or other sites if I happen to see you there on Thursday or Friday.
The deadline for entries is Saturday morning at 6am GMT / 1am ET.

A great MotoGP race in mixed conditions really jumbled up the order, and the weak and unreliable LMS field had the same effect at Paul Ricard. I didn’t follow the Cup race but it looks like some fancied runners slipped back there, too.

Congratulations to Sean for the second week running! There are strong results for James and Dylan too.
There were some divergent strategies in play with series splits, yet interestingly both Sean in 1st and Felipe at the back took the same route with 5 Cup picks, 4 MotoGP and 1 LMS – the difference was all in the selections where Felipe was let down by some poor Cup results.
I advise you to check Sebastian’s figures here for a detailed look at your results (I really should’ve picked Pedrosa!).

Sean extends his lead but James jumps into 2nd position ahead of Sebastian.
Dylan’s now on my tail fighting for 4th, Jay’s not far behind him. RubberGoat made up some ground in the midfield there.
Some position changes at the back end as Jackie and The Speedgeek post good scores, and The Crooked Cap was awarded a bogey score for a non-entry.
Undoubtedly I’ve forgotten to mention something or made a transposition error somewhere, please do point things out, let us know how you are doing. 🙂
Upcoming Races
F1: Malaysian Grand Prix, Sepang
They say the predictions of 3 or 4 pit stops will come true at Sepang, plus the rear wing should have more of an effect here. Let’s see if either of those things are true – they may not be if it rains.

IndyCar Series: Barber Motorsports Park, Alabama
This picturesque road course may open up a chance for a non-Ganassi non-Penske win.. maybe… hopefully? Andretti nearly did it last year. www.indycar.com
NASCAR Cup: Texas Motor Speedway
Blah. It is hard to write words about the same series nearly every single week, I’m sure you have some idea of picks by now! www.nascar.com
Good luck!
That was a week with three mixed-up races. I had a glance at the entry-list for the ALMS Long Beach event for the week after this, and there are only two LMP1 and two LMP2 cars on the list (also Scott Tucker appears to be driving both LMP2 cars). It seems the expansion of the ILMC has drawn entrants away from the domestic ALMS and LMS events, perhaps amongst other factors, although maybe there will be some late additions. I may have to review my policy of only trying to pick reliable LMP1 cars.
Might tinker with these later.

ALMS has had a poor LMP field for a couple of years now in terms of their number – some of the entries are as professionally run as they have ever been. But if a team like Highcroft can struggle to get in, anyone can.
Tucker likes to enter himself in two cars and then pick one to race, or even hop between them. I’m not sure how he negotiates the driver time limit rules though.

Patrick, could I ask you to clarify if we had a situation as in Malaysia two years ago whereby the race was shortened, only half-championship points were awarded, if it would effect TMRG points? I would presume not but I would just like to check.

I’m expecting a monsoon downpour & red flag, so assuming this’ll award half points and thus am not entering any drivers from this series at the moment unless Pat’s reply to Seb’s question above reveals Seb to be right, as I’d presume the opposite.

Link updated, sorry.
My initial temptation is to copy the series and award half points, but awarding half points is annoying for the purposes of the game and I don’t like the thought of people sitting on xxx.5 for the rest of the year. I’m non-committal but I think I’d just leave it as normal.
I’ll do my entry tomorrow after I’ve seen some practice times.

A point that struck me on the half-points issue is that usually a driver can fail to complete a single lap but still get full TMRG points for his position, so official classification of distance is normally ignored.
I do not think it will be a repeat of two years ago, but with a high chance of rain in Malaysia for the race, I am changing my picks.
