Rockingham and Knockhill switch places. Knockhill returns to the traditional August Bank Holiday weekend slot after running early in the month last year. I got absolutely drenched at Knockhill on 30th August 2005! Rockingham has seemingly moved earlier and earlier with every passing year – it wasn’t so long ago it was the 3rd weekend in September, now it is the 2nd weekend in August.
The first half of the season is more spread out this year with several rounds running two or three weeks later. The races are in the same order, but for example Thruxton will take the date Oulton Park used last year, with Oulton taking Croft’s date and Croft running a couple of weeks later to bring down the huge summer break.
Something in the dark recesses of my head makes me think this is more of a traditional date separation for the championship.
The BTCC has long had a very stable and reliable schedule. Other than a few tweaks here and there, it has remained largely unchanged for well over a decade. This is because it works!
That said, I would really love to see a BTCC street race!
