Start Times: 22-23 May

Here are some selected start times for races happening this weekend, as well as qualifying at Indy. I hope I’ve got the timezone adjustments right. This week I’ve added Saturday events, though note the two NASCAR races which start on Saturday in the US are actually happening in the early hours of Sunday for us in the UK.

I have purposely left out some junior series and less popular GT events.

Start Times: 16 May

A short post showing the start times of races being held on Sunday 16th May. I might do this weekly, as it is shorter and easier to do than the old-style ‘Weekend Preview’ posts. This is in chronological order in my time zone, BST (UK). I’ve included notable races and other sessions and it isn’t an exhaustive list. Obviously there were other races at Monaco (GP2 etc) but it is too late for that.

Sunday 16 May 2010
Time (GMT+1) Duration Series Event
Midnight 14 hrs n/a Nurburgring 24h-Rennen
(continuation)
10am 45 mins Superleague Assen Race 1
11.10am 25 laps FR 3.5 Monaco
1pm 78 laps F1 Monaco Grand Prix
1.30pm 45 mins Superleague Assen Race 2
2.30pm 5 laps Superleague Assen Superfinal
6pm 400 laps Sprint Cup Dover

There is also Rookie Practice and normal practice at Indianapolis though the schedule is no longer as published, I believe this is now scheduled to start at 4pm.

I’ll do this again for the next couple of weeks to see if it is worth pursuing, if it ends up taking a long to compile I’ll stop it but I hope it’ll be nice and easy and it’ll help some of you out as well as me!

38th ADAC Nurburgring 24 Hours

This weekend sees the ‘other’ big European 24 hour race, and by many measures the biggest.

We all know about Le Mans of course, and the Spa 24 later in the year is also reasonably high profile (well it was when GT1 and GT2 were involved, jury is out on the changes this year but that’s for another post), but it seems to my eyes that the Nurburgring edition often gets overlooked by the English-speaking racing media. Thankfully this is changing.

So why should you care about a race you may not have followed or even heard of before? I mean if it were that big surely you’d know some of the winners, right? Well, here are some reasons.

An Update

I haven’t been posting very many ‘real’ posts of late, the blog is overrun with game updates and I don’t like it. The game should be secondary, it has taken up too much of my Sunday/Monday evenings and I’ve lost focus.

I said a few months ago that I wanted to bring back the short form posts, little ‘asides’ or passing thoughts. I’m going to make more of an effort to do that, just as I need to make an effort to talk about more things other than Formula 1. F1 is my first love and it’ll always get the most attention, but this blog is supposed to be about more than that. This post is just to let you know that I’m going to do that just as soon as I find something I’m motivated to talk about.

The other purpose of this post is to let you know I’ve set up a personal blog.
